Beware of Soft Shoulders
Men are attracted to soft. Soft lips, pursed for the kiss, soft laps of a grandmother to sit on when you have stubbed your toe, soft shoulders to lean against when you are weary and feeling alone. But there are soft shoulders, and there are soft shoulders. So, on the highway, when you see a sign that says Soft Shoulders, that is not a good thing. So, be aware. Be very aware!

I think that it's a dump truck that was trying to dump some fill-dirt into a washed-out gulley and that it backed in too far.

Actually, the fill UNDER the shoulder had turned to very soft dirt/mud due to heavy rains in the central part of that state. The truck rear wheels were on the shoulder (about where the hole begins under the cab) when the dirt in the truck and the weight of the truck collapsed the shoulder asphalt and upended the truck. The driver was unhurt, but doubtlessly chagrined.
