The Month Before Christmas (How the PC Police Stole Christmas)

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a "Holiday".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing,
something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books
by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

Hmmm, just wondering why no one considers offending Christians offensive, prejudicial or hateful?

I have no issue with private retailers taking whatever stance they wish regarding observance or non-observance of Christmas. However, they should be consistent and also should not expropriate Christian imagery with acknowledging the source.

Besides, the frenzied buying and selling of stuff has a rather tenuous connection with worshipping the Incarnate Babe.

On the other hand, I am offended by ongoing campaigns to expunge Christmas from the schools and public areas under the guise of sensitivity or tolerance. The response to Christian speech and symbology in the civic arena should be more viewpoints, not suppression of Christian expression.

These "tolerance" idiots are the same ones who went to great lengths to avoid using BC and AD in reference to the calendar because those identifiers of periods referenced Christ. Ooooohh, we can't have that! Now, colleges and the Left use BCE and CE exclusivley. That type of avoidance and revisionism shows me that the Left views as its enemy the being that is the very symbol of goodness, morality, and forgiveness of sins--of which the first two the Left does not adopt and the last one that they reject because it might mean that they are accountable for their actions.

Our civilization is suffering what could be called a cultural death by a thousand cuts. ...You see, those who are contemptuous of tradition have decided to take it upon themselves to change our calendar and replace B.C. [Before Christ] and A.D. [Anno Domini] with B.C.E. [Before the Common Era] and C.E. [The Common Era]. The latter two designations probably aren’t new to you, since they have found favor with pseudo-intellectual academics and seem to be in every new documentary and in many new books. And if you’re taking the time to read this, the reasoning behind their adoption probably isn’t new to you either. The idea is that B.C. and A.D. are reflective of Christianity, and since not everyone is Christian, it’s insensitive and religio-centric to use them.

Merry Christmas!

GM, you are on it. It's Christmas *season*, not just a day! Now it's time to go back to your gospels again, to contemplate the miracle and wonder of life, the gifts of God's bounty and grace and wisdom ... and goodwill toward men. Merry Christmas, everyone!
