Hamas: An Ideology Of Hate
Israel: Hamas Intended Victim
Mark Lavie has written extensively on Hamas. Meryl Yourish asks for wide distribution of this column. Send the link to all your friends via e-mail. Lavie predicts that the election of Hamas does not bode well for peace. They, he notes, have no intention of changing. They have no intention of backing down. Read it all! It is that important!

Y'know, I just now figured out that "elephant" in the upper right hand corner.
And I screwed up the first post.
And I'm supposedly the smart guy.

I see some interesting geopolitical alliances shaping up: U.S., Israel, Jordan, Iraq versus Iran, Syria, Russia. Lebanon is up for graps and Saudi Arabia is the wild card. The lynch pin in the U.S.-backed alliance is holding Iraq.
Hamas has the ground forces but doesn't have money. With the opening of transit to Gaza, Iran (and Hezbollah) have made alliance with Hamas and are supplying armament, training, and leadership that is shifting the military equation on the ground against Israel. (The Iranian move towards nuclear weapons is creating an additional threat of a more strategic nature.) Iran also has money to prop up the Palestinian government. On the other hand, Hamas is also on the hook among the Palestinian people to actually govern and improve their standard of living, which might take some edge off military confrontation with Israel, at least in the short-run. Again, the loss of Iraq would, in my view, topple the other dominoes (Lebanon and Jordan) and leave Israel completely surrounded by hostile powers. The stakes are high.
