The Knives Are Out
When I first heard that Mitt Romney was going to run for the presidency, my first thought was "Harrumph, I wonder how long it will take before the MSM and others will start bashing him because he is a Mormon?" Well, it didn't take very long indeed. They even profiled a fellow in New Hampshire who said he wouldn't vote for Romney because he was a Mormon, wouldn't even shake his hand. But, I suspect that the real reason he wouldn't vote for Romney was because he was a Democrat.
So too is it with the semi-entry of Fred Thompson into the race. The MSM (and not a few conservatives) are bashing him for any number of reasons: votes in the senate, because he was a senator, because he wasn't a senator long enough, because he is friends with John McCain, because he is running against his friend John McCain, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera! Wow, I guess a lot of people are really afraid of a Thompson run.
Ron Paul is running too even though he may be pretty conservative, he is more a libertarian than a republican, but you don't see the pile up on him like you are seeing and going to see on Thompson.
Now, I'm leaning towards Thompson, but until he is in the race, he won't get much support from me (nor will the others for that matter). I also like Romney and Giuliani, even though I strongly disagree with some of their positions. Huckabee and Tancredo are good, but they don't really have a shot at it, no real charisma or name recognition. Some of the others are pretty good too, even though they also have positions I don't care for.
Which takes me back to the original title of this piece. Why is it that some candidates are castigated for being candidates. I can give clear and cogent reasons for liking or disliking any candidate based on their policy statements, Democrat or Republican (and yes, I've voted in the past for two Democrat nominees for president - Humphrey in '68 cause I thought (and still think) Nixon was a crook and (ugh) Clinton in '92 because of Bush's broken pledge on taxes-boy, was that a mistake). I do not at present, see anyone in the hustings on the Democrat side that I could support nor do I see any Democrat rising stars that aren't hopelessly filled with BDS or are so leftish that they can look straight ahead and see their left shoulder blade.
So, the knives are out, but if you are smart, and of course my readers are - with few exceptions and you lefties know who you are ;-), don't be swayed by anything having to do with any candidate EXCEPT the policies they espouse.

GM, you really do shock me sometimes, I thought you were a LOT smarter than to offer ANY support to a creep like Giuliani...
Thompson may not be perfect but Rudy Tootie is a gun grabbing, abortion supporting idiot, he's as much of a Dem as most Dems, including McCain, Mr. RINO himself...
Ands Rudy has several sets of flip-flops that he can wear as he tries to convince you otherwise...
I never thought I would EVER say this but damn, I am seriously disappointed in you GM, how a good person like you can even remotely like some cretin like Rudy is just a bit of a shock...

Fred, what part of "even though I strongly disagree with some of their positions." didn'tyou understand? There is a heck of a lot I don't like about Giuliani, but he is strong on the war on terror and without that, much of the rest won't matter anyway because we'll all be under islamic law.
Having said that, re-read the part where I said i'm leaning towards Fred...

I saw ALL of that, I read quite well...
"I also like Romney and Giuliani, even though I strongly disagree with some of their positions."
It's the part where you said "I also like Romney and Giuliani" that part gave me pause and a loose bowel, yeah, I know, too much info...
Romney, well, OK, he's as bad as most of the others but I am not speaking against him right now, Giuliani on the other hand is quite likely as big, if not possibly a BIGGER buffoon than Bush ever was, and he's dangerous too...
Any kind of like for that moonbat concerns me, especially from someone that I respect as highly as I do you...

If one wife of a former president can circumvent the 22nd Amendment by running herself, then I'm voting for Nancy Reagan.

The MSM won't like any candidate that stands up for America, and we shouldn't give them any attention.
As far as a hissyfit about not enough purity, I've got a tax-raising governor and raspy voiced Clintoon Yalie wannabe senator brought forth in '06. They demand answers from those that couldn't bring themselves to vote Republican.

Woody - or Laura Bush. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Nancy Reagan was interviewed by Larry King last night on "The Reagan Diaries." It was very touching. The White House had someone with class as First Lady when Reagan was President, unlike when Clinton lived there.

AH HA - - You're that guy who made the mistake of voting for Clinton! And here I thought it was that guy who voted for Perot who tipped the ballot boxes!!

I guess that few of the Bloggers will support Ron Paul, but in my view, he is the only real conservative that is considering a run for POTUS.
I thought that a true conservative was at heart a libertarian. You know, "all for one" at least if that one is me.
Too bad for Ron Paul. He is too honest for the current party politics.

"Ron Paul is running too even though he may be pretty conservative, he is more a libertarian than a republican, but you don't see the pile up on him like you are seeing and going to see on Thompson."
Sure you do; the Michigan chair of the GOP tried to ban him from all future debates, you had people in the MSM claiming he was a racist and a 9/11 truther, you had Hannity and Rush and others saying he got second place in the Fox News text message poll because of people repeatedly using speed-dial (despite the fact that they check for multiple votes)... Thompson might be getting some bad press but Paul got a lot of dishonest bad press.
