The Nation Turns It's Eyes

Guess which extremist magazine recently published the following conservative article.

Is Global Warming a Sin?
[from the May 14, 2007 issue]

In a couple of hundred years historians will be comparing the frenzies over our supposed human contribution to global warming to the tumults at the latter end of the tenth century as the Christian millennium approached. Then as now, the doomsters identified human sinfulness as the propulsive factor in the planet's rapid downward slide. Then as now, a buoyant market throve on fear. The Roman Catholic Church sold indulgences like checks. The sinners established a line of credit against bad behavior and could go on sinning. Today a world market in "carbon credits" is in formation. Those whose "carbon footprint" is small can sell their surplus carbon credits to others less virtuous than themselves.

The modern trade is as fantastical as the medieval one. There is still zero empirical evidence that anthropogenic production of carbon dioxide is making any measurable contribution to the world's present warming trend. The greenhouse fearmongers rely on unverified, crudely oversimplified models to finger mankind's sinful contribution--and carbon trafficking, just like the old indulgences, is powered by guilt, credulity, cynicism and greed.

....Next: Who are the hoaxers, and what are they after?

The Nation

Did you guess it? (Tell the truth.) The title of the post should have given you a hint.

Here is the link, if you want proof or want to read the entire article. [Link]

Who would have thought that a radical left magazine would find common ground with G.M. and me? Leftists must be demanding apologies and firings over this, but I see questioning global warming claims as sanity and hope for rational thinkers and mankind. Someone pass the smelling salts to contributing editor and pal Marc Cooper.

Cost of one carbon credit: Variable depending on the supplier.
Seeing The Nation Agree With Woody and Me: Priceless!!!

Hmmm, makes me wonder if the global warming hype is true after all. JUST KIDDING!!!

From the articel - (which omit data from most of the world's oceans and remote regions, while overrepresenting urban areas)

I've wondered about this. Urban areas collect and hold more heat because of the buildings, roads, parking lots, etc. Urban areas also produce heat due to cars, heating and cooling buildings (remember air conditioners remove heat from inside a building and put it outside), etc.

I see the temperature difference between urban and rural areas nearly every day. During the warm months especially, it can be 10 degrees F warmer in Cincinnati where I work than in the rural area 60 miles southeast where I live. The trees and grass keep my home nice and cool.

DADvocate, you aren't that far from Asbury, where my two older boys went to school, then. Nice country.

I have definitely got to read this. It's not their April Fool's issue or anything?

Get with the program GM. Global Warming is real and we all must act to save the planet.

I want to first commend Al Gore for acting as a carbon sink. By gaining weight he is sequestering CO2 that would be released upon further metabolism. He is an American hero to gain all that weight.

I also want to thank all those who gain weight in order to protect us from global warming. If all these people exercised there would be a jump in the CO2 emissions levels.

Imagine a world where every one acted irresponsibly and exercised sufficiently to stay fit. Man made CO2 emissions would go through the roof.

I also wonder when we will be threatened by China which has over a billion people. The nation of China could threaten the US asking its people to belch and chirp if we do not acquiesce to their wishes. The amount of green house gases released could destroy the global ecosystem.

I think you need to take the threat more seriously.

Sally, that is one of the absolutely funniest comments I've seen on this blog. Thanks... and please know I breathe shallowly to prevent too much CO2 from escaping my overweight body.
