How to Reduce the Federal Deficit
Get these people to pay....
As the 2006 tax season approaches, the federal government is still trying to recover nearly $3 billion from its own employees who failed to file income tax returns for 2005. More than 450,000 active and retired federal employees did not voluntarily comply with federal income tax requirements for the 2005 tax year. (An) IRS spokesperson tells WTOP it's no easier to collect from federal employees than it is to collect from the general public. The federal agency with the highest number of delinquent taxpayers is the United States Postal Service.Posted by Woody M. at January 18, 2007 05:30 PM | TrackBack
OK...GM, Woody and all your cohorts, legions and varied supporters: Should not we harangue the Govt about this? I routinuely pay my taxes....much of them to things I think are awful; useless or just failed "programs" that provide "work" for people who don't really work nor provide services that actually equal progress. Heck, the CCC was a better deal.
Anyway, I grow weary of some elements of the Dem Party crowing about "taxing the rich." Like who? Streisand? O'Donnell? Ted Kennedy? Pelosi? Boxer? Kerry? Gad, the Dems seem to have more money that the Reps. Hmmm.
And while I am ranting: What, exactly, has Rep. Maxine Waters actually done for her district?
40+ years of failed programs and we have worse drug, gang, crimes, husbandless "families" in the U.S. All the louts of both house of Congress deserve a very harsh talking to.

It's not like the government doesn't know where to find these people. I can tell you that some in the IRS are quick to levy bank accounts for people who get behind in paying. Surely, the federal government would be in position to garnish wages from its own employees.
