Liberals Get Easily Offended
Imagine that you'e a student leader in a college with 28,000 students and you just have to handle something of such great importance that you put it ahead of everything else. You could do something to work out problems between the administration and students, you could start a fund-raiser for a good cause, you could set up a tutoring program for students needing help, ...why, you could even be planning the homecoming parade or trying to get more soft drink machines in classroom buildings. But, rather than taking on traditional tasks, what did the student leaders at a California college consider the highest priority?
The move was lead by three recently elected student trustees, who ran for office wearing revolutionary-style berets and said they do not believe in publicly swearing an oath to the American flag and government at their school. ..."That ('under God') part is sort of offensive to me," student trustee Jason Bell, who proposed the ban, told Reuters. "I am an atheist and a socialist, and if you know your history, you know that 'under God' was inserted during the McCarthy era and was directly designed to destroy my ideology."
Yes, that was the most important thing that they had to do that day. I'd like to go up to those student "leaders" and wish them a "Merry Christmas" just to make sure they are completely offended. Is that what we have to look forward to from future generations? No wonder the Democrats seek the student vote and get it.

The move...has infuriated some of their classmates -- prompting one young woman to loudly recite the pledge in front of the board on Wednesday night in defiance of the rule.
"America is the one thing I'm passionate about and I can't let them take that away from me," 18-year-old political science major Christine Zoldos told Reuters...adding she would attend every board meeting to salute the flag.
From what I've seen of community colleges, I suspect that the the election of these people reflected the student body's not taking the trustee elections very seriously rather than a groundswell of political radicalism. With all this publicity, I would guess the next election will be different.
Most of the reports I've read state that today's students are more conservative that their parents. I suspect the Democrats are being selective as to which students they're trying to encourage to vote.

I always love those clowns that say "if you know your history." It invariably identifies a person who has learned a few carefully-packaged facts via a book or professor and now thinks he is wiser than the rest. Yes, we occasionally get clowns like that on the right, but they're mostly lefties these days. The self-congratulation upon discovering that "Gasp! My fifth-grade history book was oversimplified! We actually aren't perfect! Wow, it's a good thing that I went to the other extreme when I did, huh?" is simply embarrassing to listen to.
