Democrats Find Religion
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes....
If the Democrats win the House, then Rev. Rep. Charlie Rangel will become chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is responsible for tax legislation. How does he feel about current tax rates?
On Sept. 20, he told Bloomberg News that he "cannot think of one" of the tax cuts passed under President George W. Bush that merits renewal. Nearly all of those cuts expire at the end of 2010. When asked whether as chairman he would consider tax increases across the table, Mr. Rangel replied, "No question about it," according to the Sept. 26 edition of CongressDaily PM.
Clearly, Rangel is a man who has read Romans. Now, I'm going to have to take take a step of faith and pray that I will have the money to pay for the Democrats' new found religion.

You find a way to reduce the budget deficit without raising taxes and you let me know about it.
And, no, I don't think cutting out Social Security is a viable option.

Moose, I love ya buddy, but you GOTTA BE KIDDING... Try this one on for size: CUT SPENDING... Outlaw pork barrel spending, put social security liabilities back in the budget so people can see what they are getting themselves in for.
And maybe, just maybe the best way for the American public to demand reductions in spending is to end payroll deduction of taxes... make them write a check to the government each and every week. I guaran-damn-tee you that spending will be cut in less than 1 year.

Moose, the tax cuts are now resulting in record federal revenue collections because of the economic stimulus that they provided. Kennedy knew it, Reagan knew it, and Bush knows it. However, I agree that we need to quit spending so much, but no one has the nerve to cut "entitlements" (a word that I hate in this context), and those entitlements were started and raised primarily from the Democrats who dare the Republicans to try to cut them.
Social security is going to be a bigger problem when the Democrats start exempting taxes on the first $10,000 or so in wages, which they've discussed. Next thing to buy more votes, they'll keep moving that threshold to $15,000, then to $20,000, etc. until the system is totally broken or we kill the golden calf of those who are successful.
But, raising taxes and taxing the dead twice is not the answer.

Funny. But. The rest of Romans 12 (and other places) clearly outline WHAT those in civil government are supposed to provide for the taxes paid and obedience given: protection from the outlaw, thief, murderer--protection via "the sword": the threat and execution of the sentence of death.
The fake liberals populating the political landscape today care not one whit for doing what is actually necessary to protect the life and liberty of citizens, and so have no legitimate claim on the powers of taxation or the respect due their offices.
