Urgent Reason to Stop Smoking
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore warned hundreds of U.N. diplomats and staff on Thursday evening about the perils of climate change, claiming: Cigarette smoking is a "significant contributor to global warming!"
Oh, yes. Smoking also causes cancer and heart disease, if you thought that global warming wasn't enough reason to quit--but, the global warming fanatics, who defend Gore, might label you as a wacked-out "skeptic" to think that cancer is to be feared more than global warming.
Found at Drudge Report
P.S. "Then, Gore had his staff opened a stack of cardboard boxes to begin selling his new book, "An Inconvenient Truth, The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It," $19.95, to the U.N. diplomats."
Put me down for none.
Gore is completely whacko. Everyone knows that carbonated beverages are a much greater cause of global warming.

DADvocate, you're absolutely right! Every time that I pop a soft drink, it releases CO2 into the atmosphere, adding to our carbon problem. Then, I double that when I drink it too fast and belch. Next headline from Al Gore, "Belching Contributes to Global Warming." From now on, when I drink a Coke and belch really loud, rather than laughing, I will hang my head in shame--not because it's rude but because I have offended Mother Earth.

Just to make you day!!
The Bush administration plans to announce as early as next week a goal
of stabilizing carbon dioxide levels in the global atmosphere at 450 parts per
million by the year 2106, congressional and non-government sources told Platts
Wednesday.
Such an announcement, if true, might lead to the establishment of new
regulatory policies -- either voluntary or mandatory -- for the power sector
and other sources of CO2 emissions.
That may even include your belching!

Here's the source link for James' news story.
From my perusal, this story appears to break little new ground. Also, I don't think any of us commenting here are going to be around by 2106.

From the news story CT links to:
Currently, the atmospheric CO2 level stands at about 380 parts per million.
Doesn't make 450 ppm look that great and means we should be able to drink lots of beer and pop in the mean time. Maybe even smoke a few stogies.
Thanks for the link, CT.

What's next ? Ban smoking ? Make cigarettes companies pay higher taxes ? We all know this is not going to happen. It's just a political statement, that's all.

Well now, if only it weren't for those pesky health effects, I would follow Gore around smoking a pack as often as I could. But, since we KNOW they cause cancer and pre-mature death, maybe I'll just make it known why I quit (8 days without one, yes, I slipped but it's now been over a week!)

Algore is suffering from terminal Cerebral Hemorroids, for which the only cure is a Rectal Lobotomy. At the instant that a politician took up the cause of GW, I knew it was all hoax.
"Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore warned hundreds of U.N. diplomats and staff on Thursday evening about the perils of climate change, ..."
As I predicted, the term Global Warming (GW) has now been changed to "Global Climate Change" (GCC) so if the long-term temp of the planet goes the other way they're still in the game with their junk science. What a crock. If GCC doesn't pan out for Algore, he can lead the next witch hunt at Salem Mass. Heh.

Vulgorilla, I used to wonder how it was that the Left somehow simultaneously notified all of their folks about terminology changes and use of words. For instance, when "diversity" became popular, I didn't get the memo but others did. Now, it's global warming morphing into climate change. I do see on liberal sites that they put up "talking points." Maybe that's where they get this. Isn't it pathetic that they need someone to tell them what to say rather than them just expressing their own views?

This falls right in line with a story I heard years ago on NPR, which stated that an earlier incidence of global warming was caused by....dinosaur flatulence...

Jim, glad to hear you're still alive and kicking! I've missed your absence.

I have only smoked for a week. That was back in my adolescence. I’m still blaming myself for it!
