All Women Talk Radio - I Give It Six Months [Updated]

Greenstone launches all-women radio talk network

Greenstone Media, a radio company whose founders include social activist Gloria Steinem and actress Jane Fonda, has launched an all-women, all-talk network across the United States.

Steinem said the network, which is run by women, aims to provide an alternative to current radio talk, which she describes as "very argumentative, quite hostile, and very much male-dominated."

Well, first, "all-women, all-talk" goes without saying. But, to state that an all-woman network is an alternative to "hostile" talk radio is to ignore who are the very founders of the network.

I give it six months. They just want to be around until the fall elections, anyway, as a way to skirt campaign laws and to advertise under the guise of talk radio for the Democrats right up to the elections.

Update:

Here is Greenstone Media's home page, where they introduce their new on-air personalities. If they wanted "women talk radio," what was wrong with these people--Laura Ingraham, Michele Malkin, even Tammy Bruce, or especially these famous women radio hosts?

Gee, ya think?

Good call!

Sorry I'm in love with Rush and Sean, forget this bunch ... three months.

Accuse me of being sexist but will they be able to shut up long enough to allow commercials? Will they keep talking after the network closes down?

Dadvocate... LOL, of course.. after all, they are... whoops, I'll take the fifth on what I was about to say

I guess hostility doesn't count if its directed against conservatives, Republicans, and Christians. And if you exclude conservative women, I guess you can eliminate "argumentative" as well. As far as male-dominated, they may whiff on that if they con't get over their BDS and spend too much time talking about Mr. Bush and other Republican men. The big question is whether they will be able to find an audience beyond their echo chamber.

I believe in free speech all around, but I think you have to draw the line where a woman sides with the enemy in a time of war. You have to keep your priorities straight. Either it's a war, or it isn't, it's as simple as that.

Sorry about the bum link above. Stratfor are doing their best to cloak our weakenesses from the enemy (that's just a joke). Here's a better link.

I want to be the first woman here to say that these harpies are NOT representative of women.

No soup for you.

Just what we need ... Left Wing PMS Radio. I knew there was something missing from our lives ... I just couldn't imagine what it was.

Posted by Vulgorilla at September 13, 2006 08:07 AM

One additional thought ... I guess "Hanoi Jane" is returning to her roots.

As a totally unexpected development (NOT) Air America is reportedly filing for bankruptchy. I just expected it sooner, guess that "loan" from the boys and girls club helped a lot.

Posted by GM at September 13, 2006 02:16 PM

Jape, here's an even better link

GM,

Who knows. By now you've seen the opposite claim by a Syrian official. I doubt we'll ever see a reliable report of the full details, but by your favoured mode of reasoning, the attack might as well have been set up by Hillary Clinton, the ghost of Elvis, or Ming of Mongo. Since your controlling premises are fixed in stone, the evidence doesn't make any difference, does it. I think I'd actually pay for a ringside seat if you could be put in charge of US foreign policy for a week. It might be amusing enough to justify the incidental risk of Armageddon and the loss of the Republic.

Posted by Jassalasca Jape at September 14, 2006 03:54 AM

Jape, you are correct, I've seen the Syrian claim. I also agree that we will probably never see the actual facts.

That doesn't change anything, my link was in response to your initial link and since "counter-argument" is your stock in trade, I thought I'd link to an alternative view.

To think however, that anything could occur in that police state called Syria without the Syrian "secret police" knowing about it is ludicrous. So, which side of the issue do YOU believe? Did the US do it or did Syria acting through proxies do it? Or do you believe in a third choice? You gotta have some opinion.

As to a week at the helm, hmmm, a strong vibrant foreign policy or a week kneed "Why do they hate us" foreign policy. Gosh, how to choose! I suspect, though I cannot know that the loss of the Republic is much more likely from internal rot than from miscreants like Al Q or other agents.

Posted by GM at September 14, 2006 06:17 AM

G.M., if you ever get the chance to run our foreign policy for a week, bomb France.

I lean towards discounting a Syrian conspiracy in this case, even though Syria is certainly capable of such a maneuver.

1) Debka (see caveat below) is still attributing the attack to al Qaeda at this point [scroll down].

2) Indeed, the attack was a no-lose proposition for al Qaeda. Had it succeeded, it would have further disrupted the already frayed relations between the U.S. and Syria. And even though it didn't succeed, it still serves as an warning to Syria not to move closer to the U.S.

By Occam's razor, I would thus lean towards the more straightforward explanation. Of course, we don't have inside information, and Debka may be peddling disinformation.

The women here can relax about feeling misrepresented by Greenstone. This should be understood as All-Wymmyn Radio. I think the sponsors will find that wymmyn are a fairly small subset of women.

They aren't even on the air as far as I can tell......they seem to only be streaming on the web....and only have three shows.....gee.....who would have thought of putting a political talk station on the web?
