The Press Does Its Job
Yeah, right. This press did its job on this--if its job is slanting. An article reporting President Bush's veto of certain stem cell funding does not seem to report the veto exactly like the White House described it.
President George W. Bush will cast the first veto of his presidency on Wednesday to stop legislation championed by top scientists and desired by most Americans to expand embryonic stem cell research, the White House said.
"the White House said"...?! White House said??!! Do you think the above wording was in the press release?
Yeah, the press did its job...slant and distort news from the White House. (I'm sure that leftists reading the quote couldn't find anything wrong with it.) If that journalist keeps it up, he'll earn a high paying job with the New York Times or CBS. Surely, no bias was intended--no more than my sarcasm is.

Just leave out 'the White House said' and it's a perfectly accurate description of what happened.
Think of all the frozen blastocysts at fertility clincs that will now never have to fear being used to save the lives of breathing, talking, walking-around people like you and me. It's a huge victory for blastocysts everywhere!
In fact, I'm thinking of making bumper stickers that say, "I'm a blastocyst and I vote REPUBLICAN!" They should sell like hot cakes! I'll be RICH! I love capitalism, don't you?

More "lies" from the MSM:
Republicans say Bush's veto is risky
I mean, how DARE they quote actual Republicans who disagree with President Bush!
Seriously Woody, you desperately want to criticize the media for its coverage of Bush's veto but the fact is Bush has dug his own hole all by himself. He doesn't need any help from the MSM on this one.
Meanwhile, Israel is mulling a full-scale invasion of Lebanon, Turkey is seriously thinking about moving into northern Iraq and let's all just pray you guys were wrong about the WMD's being smuggled into Syria.
Apocalypse anyone?

Maybe reporting the story as the White House explained the veto would be the most accurate and would leave out subjective conclusions. Bush opposed the use of federal funds for a certain type of research for moral reasons. If someone wants to do studies that offend many people. then let them use their own money. Also, I put absolutely no credence in polls on science issues, because most of the public is stupid--whether it be this or global warming.

The war with Israel/Hezbollah/Lebanon is putting this veto vote way on the back page. Hardly anyone is paying attention to his first veto.
