The Lack of Palpable Outrage Defines The MSM

BEGIN RANT!

I've not posted on this topic, the brutal murders of Pvts. Menchaca of Texas and Tucker of Oregon. Mostly because I've been outraged, yes, outraged. Not at the islamofascists, I have come to expect this kind of inhuman, ungodly behavior from these dogs. But, I expected more from the MSM. Really, I really did, and I'm outraged that I'm not getting it.

In fact, doing just a cursory search of recent "headlines" by Reuters (spokesmen for Al Qaeda) and other papers reveils plenty of "outrage" but none for the wanton slaughter, yes, slaughter of two soldiers. The outrage over Gitmo was palpable, the outrage over Abu Ghraib was palpable, the outrage over the "massacre" at Haditha was palpable; in fact, the MSM is frequently outraged over the actions of our government and our troops even though in each case the military justice system was already in place and functioning before the press was aware of the situation. Indeed, the Haditha incident may not be anything else except Marines functioning under the current rules of engagement according to some of those participating in that action.

Reuters headline for June 20th?

Iraq Qaeda leader killed two US soldiers

" And for the 24th?

US raid in Iraq sparks outrage

Only the second headline was about "Outrage" over the arrest of a suspected terrorist leader:
U.S. forces hunting al Qaeda insurgents raided the home of a senior Sunni Arab religious leader in Iraq on Saturday, seizing him and four suspected terrorists, the U.S. military said.

The arrest of Sheikh Jamal Abdel Karim al-Dabaan sparked outrage among Iraq's Sunnis. The Iraqi Islamic Party, whose leader is one of the country's vice-presidents, condemned it and many government officials in predominantly Sunni Salahaddin province suspended work in protest, the deputy governor said.

The U.S. military said it had been acting on intelligence gathered following the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, in a U.S. air strike on June 7."

Well, excuuuuusssseeeee me! The Islamists are free to express outrage over the arrest of a person who very well may have had lots to do with the wanton murder of hundreds of Iraqis but those dogs cannot express any outrage over the ongoing butchering and wanton murder of US Soldiers and Iraqi non-combatants?

I have ceased to expect that the MSM will ever get it through their thick skulls that we are at war, that the islamofascists are figuratively sub-human animals that slaughter in what they believe to be God's name. That the islamofascists would just as soon behead folk from the LA Times, the NY Times, Reuters etc as a soldier. Does the name Daniel Pearl ring a bell? His beheading is still available on the internet and no, I won't provide a link for this travesty of propaganda.

Perhaps Robert Fisk would care to be "re-interviewed" by the Al Qaeda folk? After all according to this:

"They started by shaking hands. We said "Salaam aleikum" – peace be upon you – then the first pebbles flew past my face. A small boy tried to grab my bag. Then another. Then someone punched me in the back. Then young men broke my glasses, began smashing stones into my face and head. I couldn't see for the blood pouring down my forehead and swamping my eyes. And even then, I understood. I couldn't blame them for what they were doing. In fact, if I were the Afghan refugees of Kila Abdullah, close to the Afghan-Pakistan border, I would have done just the same to Robert Fisk. Or any other Westerner I could find." he understands
To be honest however, I don't. I don't understand at all how any western newsman, any civilized newsman who expresses so much "outrage" at Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, Falluja or Haditha isn't equally outraged at the senseless slaughter perpetrated by the islamofascists and report on it in the same tone. Shame, shame on you all!

End Rant!

I sure do agree with you, GM Roper. However, I call the leftist press in America the leftist press.

They are not mainstream. They swim in a stream that seems to run ABOVE everybody else. They think that they are ABOVE U.S. law. They believe that they are citizens of the world, and therefore are NOT beholden to any nation. That is why they can give our enemies our secrets, since they are "neutral" spectators in the war against Islamofascism. They see things similar to the way Cindy Sheehan does. Sheebitchan is NOT "mainstream." Nuff sed.

Thank you, GM for another terrific post. The major old-line television networks, the major weekly U. S. news magazines, and the major papers who have spent so much time and energy worrying over "tortured" prisoners who were simply stripped and had womens underware put on their heads, haven't spend one quarter of the time and effort in concern over the real torture of American servicemen.

The media may be so politically correct that they are unable to feel shame but I am ashamed for and of them. What a travesty.

The U.S. leftist media hates our President more than it fears our enemies. Also, they love the adulation of outsiders, such as the Nobel Prize Committee that gives big awards to those who hurt the U.S.

Denny is right in that they consider themselves "world citizens," as if that makes them superior. Well, if they're world citizens before being U.S. citizens, then let's treat them like other nations of the world treats enemies on their shores.

I second that rant!

Posted by jcrue at June 27, 2006 11:29 AM

Woody! You are the man! My point is that words and the associated meaning of those words are CRITICAL to the cause or debate surrounding them. If I said I was pro-choice instead of pro-abortion, people tend to associate the word choice as something good and the word abortion as something much less desirable. If I call the leftist media in America mainstream instead of liberal or leftist, I am portraying them as they are NOT. That is another reason why I will from now on refer to Democrats as 'cut and run Democrats,' and the Democrat Part as the Party of cut and run. It will stick like flip-flop did to cut n run Kerry in '04.

Wait! Kerry was agin' cuttin' and runnin' before he was fer it.
