2996
I got this from Abbagav and I shamelessly copied all of it. This is important folks, if you are a blogger, you too are needed.
D.C. Roe wants to honor the fallen of 9/11 and needs your help and mine:I have a project and I need the help of a few bloggers to make it work.2,995 bloggers.
September 11, 2006 will mark the 5-year anniversary of the attacks that killed 2,996 innocent people on American soil. A few months ago I started wondering what, if anything, I would write in my blog that day. A remembrance? A tribute? Anything I came up with seemed shallow, cliché, not enough.
What has he decided to do? What does he need from us?I’d like 2,995 blogging volunteers to help me with a tribute to the victims of 9/11. If you’d like to participate, you’ll be assigned the name of someone who was murdered on September 11, 2001. Then on September 11, 2006 you’ll post your own tribute to that person. It can be anything you want it to be: a photo tribute, an essay, a remembrance, a poem…it’s up to you. Then link back to a page I will create which will give the names of all 2,996 victims and links to the blogs that will remember them that day. But, and this is critical, I don’t want any of us to remember the murderers. Do not refer to the terrorists. Or their organization. Or their goals. Let them fade into nothing. Let them be forgotten. Remember those worth remembering.
As Abbagav says:
I'm going to participate and I hope you'll consider it too. The project is just getting started and can still use our help.If you want to participate, signups are being accepted through comments on either of two blogs: D.C. Roe or 2996. You can also sign up by email to dcroe05-at-yahoo-dot-com. D.C. is making the assignments; although, if you have a name you'd really like to honor, it probably wouldn't hurt to request it. A list of names and participants assigned so far is available here.
When we say "never forget" we have to start by remembering.

GM,
I'll be posting an announcement at my site, but give me just a bit of time to get the announcement up on my site. I'll also be participating.
Thanks for posting this information!

I frequently see clips of Arabs celebrating by firing their weapons indiscriminatley into the air without caring that those bullets have to come down somewhere or on someone. They may be shooting at clouds, but they make it rain bullets rather than water. They don't even do that in Arkansas. Maybe we should print the name of the bullet purchasers on each one so that we can identify whose bullet did the damage.
By the way, the innocent Iraqis are the continued victims of Saddam Hussein and his murderous henchmen rather than the people attemptng to clear out the thugs and free the people. To blame the U.S. for civilian casualties is like blaming the surgeon for some bleeding when he's trying to remove a death threatening cancer as carefully as he can.

GM,
The manager of this project is quick. I had my assignment quickly.
Woody,
Mullah Beak is a vile troll. Email me for details if you need them.

I signed up this morning. It is a privilege and honor to be a part of something so valuable. Remembering and never forgetting what happened to our country is important. Remembering that it also happened to individual Americans and their families is even more important. I'm so glad this is being done.
