And The Winner Is
The race to replace the disgraced Randy Cunningham in California's 50th district has been decided by the voters of that district:
A former Republican congressman narrowly beat his Democratic rival early Wednesday to fill the House seat once held by jailed Randy "Duke" Cunningham, one of several contests in eight states closely watched as a possible early barometer of next fall's vote.It is being called a "close" finish, but a 5 percent difference is not all that close, other important elections have been decided by much less a margin. To our loosing friends on the Democratic side, our condolences. To the winning Republican in a district that is safely in Republican hands as before, you should have done better had you pushed a more conservative agenda. To the pundits that say that the Dems didn't really have much of a chance? Yeah! Woulda-shoulda-coulda. I fully expect the Dems to say it wasn't much, didn't count for much, didn't have much of a chance and generally down play the loss that they invested so much time and big bucks in. I can see it all now. Posted by GM Roper at June 7, 2006 06:54 AM | TrackBackRepublican Brian Bilbray emerged victorious after a costly and contentious special election race against Democrat Francine Busby, a local school board member.
"I think that we're going back to Washington," Bilbray told cheering supporters. He will serve out the remaining seven months of Cunningham's term and get a boost for the November election.
With 90 percent of precincts reporting, Bilbray had 56,130 votes, or 50 percent. Busby trailed with 51,292 votes, or 45 percent."
"I fully expect the Dems to say it wasn't much, didn't count for much, didn't have much of a chance and generally down play the loss that they invested so much time and big bucks in. I can see it all now."
Same old, same old. I saw that with the recent elections for Herndon, Virginia--liberal Northern Virginia tossed out the open-borders guys on their asses.
While I'm not thrilled with many of the Republican politicians, I find the Dems much worse.

He only won because the illegal alien voters were disinfranchised. Expect Democratic protests and hearings.

Heard Nebraska needs illegal aliens in order to have anyone left to vote. Anyway - more proof that the "left" has no message.

In watching the news last night, I found it amazing that the Democrats were calling this a victory, as they have in other losses, because the Republican didn't beat them any worse. Let's hope for more 'victories" for them.
One thing that I realized in myself was that I was glad that the Republican had won, even though I'm upset with the party. With talk of sitting out elections, etc., it appears on the surface, that traditional Republicans have no where to go.

Oh, this one was huge for the Republicans. They basically proved that you can be as crooked and corrupted as you want to be and still win. A little gay bashing and immigrant hating is all it takes to rally the base. Republicans pretty much have carte blanche to do as they please now as long as they keep the hate flowing.

Moose, no, it was not a big win for the republicans, in fact, bilbray was a rather weak candidate. However, the Dems are blathering about how much the repubs spent, and not admitting that they spent as much or more in an attempt to beat bilbray.
Too, we don't "hate" immigrants and that is nonsense and you know it. We are not in favor of illegal immigration. Get the difference?
Gay Bashing? I'm not for that for sure, but be honest, don't the dems bash born again Christians and fundamentalist believers? Is it ok to bash one but decry bashing the other? I'm just askin'.

50% PLUS 45% EQUAL 95%. MAY I ASSUME THAT THE TOTAL VOTE WAS 100% ? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MISSING 5%?
