Castro Worth $900 Million - Credits Cuban System
And, all this time I thought that the Cuban economy was bad and that Cubans were repressed. Well, apparently, not all of them.
Castro worth $900 million: Forbes
Castro, who says his net worth is nil, is likely the beneficiary of up to $900 million, based on his control of state-owned companies, (Forbes) the U.S. financial magazine said in its annual tally of "Kings, Queens & Dictators" fortunes on Thursday....Castro had said he was considering suing after Forbes released its 2005 list, scoffing then his wealth was estimated to be close to that of the queen of England. ...This year, Castro would be well above the British monarch. Queen Elizabeth came in with some $500 million in estates, gems and a stamp collection built by her grandfather.
Well, this explains how Castro can afford those expensive Cuban cigars and why the newest South American presidents are getting cozy with him. They want to use his expensive beach condo.
Of course, you won't read much about Castro's wealth from leftists, who like to portray Castro as a great leader and socialism as great system. Well, it has worked for him.

GM,
Come on! Castro is a man of the people. He's only remained president of Cuba since Moby Dick was a minnow because the people really, really wanted him to and he, though prefering to retire long ago, is doing it just out of a since of duty.
ANYONE with eyes can see that the socialismo of Castro has markedly benefitted the people. Further, that full health care for everyone plan great. The Rx for ALL maladies is: "Take two apcs, wrap an Ace bandage around your (the pained part of body) and two days of no duty."
Truly, Castro is a great man, and I am shocked and dismayed that you maligned him. I am confident that he is really a very poor man. Note he cannot afford any clothes other than his army fatigues.
Ha.

GM AND Woody,
Ah, to err is human...etc. Not only did I fail to address the correct author, I should have written "sense" vice "since."
All, of course, tongue in cheek. By the way, Castro is so poor that he can be seen on the roadways of Cuba with a sign: "Veteran. Will work for food."
Sure. And Mussolini was hung because Italians (back then) hated bald guys. Mao was just a agrarian reformer. The Khmer Rouge were kids trying to protect their ancient culture. Oh, yes.
Do you guys grow weary of "bumper sticker" depth of knowledge as do I? Yep, I thought so.
Gosh, this rather sounds (or might to folks who don't know I am a great fan of you both) like I am hectoring or ankle biting, when the reverse is the truth.
Keep up one of the top two blogs on the planet.
Regards,

Thank you, tad. Our feelings are mutual.
I have a theory about bumper stickers, based in large part on the cars in the liberal parts of town that are almost completely covered with bumper stickers like "Bush Lied, People Died" and that still display "Kerry-Edwards" stickers. I change the equation from time-to-time, but it goes something like this:
*Start with 100 points
*Add the number of bumper stickers for most sports teams and the military--multiplied by 2
*Deduct 1 point for every Dale Earnhardt, Calvin Peeing, NY Mets, and NY Yankees stickers.
*Deduct the total number of bumper stickers covering the environment, supporting Democrats, attacking Bush, warning of Global Warming, etc. (For examples, see http://irregulartimes.com/exprogressive.html .
*Deduct 50 points for any sticker supporting Rep. Cynthia McKinney.
**Take the sum of the numbers to determine a person's IQ
Maybe you can help me refine it.
