Macho - Macho Man, I've Got To Be A Macho Man!

macho man.jpgRemember the Village People? Felipe Rose The Indian, Ray Simpson The Cop, Eric Anzalone The Biker, Jeff Olson The Cowboy, Alex Briley The Soldier, David Hodo The Construction Worker? Macho men all, by appearances at any rate. Well, move over Macho Man, there is now a replacement, The Metro-Sexual. According to Pierre Francois Le Louet, Paris fashion designer:

""The masculine ideal is being completely modified. All the traditional male values of authority, infallibility, virility and strength are being completely overturned," said Pierre Francois Le Louet, the agency's managing director.

Instead today's males are turning more towards "creativity, sensitivity and multiplicity," as seen already in recent seasons on the catwalks of Paris and Milan.

Arnold Schwarznegger and Sylvester Stallone are being replaced by the 21st-century man who "no longer wants to be the family super-hero", but instead has the guts to be himself, to test his own limits.

We are watching the birth of a hybrid man. ... Why not put on a pink-flowered shirt and try out a partner-swapping club?" asked Le Louet, stressing that the study had focused on men aged between 20 and 35.

Sociologists and other experts spent three months analyzing some 150 magazines and books and 146 Internet sites, as well as interviewing a dozen experts from Europe, the United States and China.

The traditional man still exists in China, Le Louet said, and "is not ready to go". But in Europe and the United States, a new species is emerging, apparently unafraid of anything."

OMG, this is so, so funny. If a fop, dandy, metrosexual like this one showed up at my doorstep I'm afraid (yes, very afraid) that I'd collapse in uproarious laughter and die on the spot. Who is Le Louet kidding?

The funniest aspect of this, besides the idiocy of wearing your suspenders backwards no less (I wonder if he went all out and put his T-Shirt on backwards as well) is that Howard Dean, as a presidential contender just last year, declaired himself a Metrosexual. Now however, Mr. Metrosexual Man doesn't know that Republicans work, thinks that we are all white christians etc., etc. The next time Dean speaks anywhere, to any audience, look around, see if you can find Mr. Flaming hair, striped shirt, lime-green pants who is so full of himself that he puts his suspenders on backwards as some sort of foolish fashion statement is in the audience. If he is, ask him if he votes democratic. Maybe that is whats wrong with the Democratic Party. That and Ted Kennedy of course.

Macho-macho man, I've got be a macho man!

Gee, GM...you knew all their names! What's up with that?

Let's be honest here. Equating Metro Man with the Democratic party is a hell of a reach. Sometines `out there' is just a little to out there.

I liked you better when you looked like an iguana.

Jim, I'm not equating metros**uals with the Dem party, I'm equating Dean with metros**uals. Most Dems I know, including my very liberal but beloved uncle are all man. But Dean-O? Teddy? Also, I had to look up their names, knew most of their "roles" but not their names.... lol, that's what's up with that!!!!

But, the fact that the Dems are still supporting Dean-O says they don't know that their party is in trouble. Those like Biden who are calling for an end to the hate-rhetoric get it. We Republicans just laugh at Dean, he is the best thing going for us.

Mustang, I STILL look like an iguana, but admittedly one younger than you. ;-)

p.s., I can spell the metro-word, but my filter won't allow some words to be posted.

Hey! Wasn't Alan Alda the first metro**ual? This "new" version seems a lot like the old version but with an updated wardrobe.

Thank goodness I'm not in the 20 - 35 year old demographic otherwise I might feel some pressure join in.

Oh, one last thing. I understand creativity and sensitivity but what the heck is "multiplicity"? Is that like duplicity but with more than two variables? If so then John Kerry is definitely a metro**ual.

Is that the new French army uniform?

Yeah, tell men to look and act like women and tell women to look and act like men. Soon the sexes blend and everyone is "equal." I kinda like women who want to look pretty and be sweet. I don't appreciate men who are like that.

This is too good.

French men yearn for pregnancy

PARIS — "Almost 40 per cent of French men told a recent survey that they would like to, science permitting, become pregnant.

"The poll — conducted by Ipsos and published in the current issue of Children Magazine (Enfants Magazine)— showed that 38 per cent of the more than 500 fathers of children up to seven interviewed by phone said they would like, or would have liked, to be the one to carry their offspring to term.

"A slightly higher percentage of women respondents liked the idea of their spouses taking on the nine-month job." — AFP

Well, that is what appears to be wrong with the Democratic Party. No doubt at all on that score.
But Ted Kennedy,Howard Dean,Move-On.org,and of course Nancy Pelosi are not the cause of the rot. They are merely symptoms of the disease. The Dems are bankrupt. Oh not monetarily of course as 'more money than brains',is still a viable fund raising strategy ,but in every other important sense the Party has run out of ideas. This is not a problem specific to the Democrats; it happens to all political structures. They simply run out of ideas, and become mere electoral machines.

This works quite well or at least acceptably well until some opponent begins to actually operate on the basis of IDEAS. Then the internal contradictions become ever more apparent as the party is forced to oppose 'something' with 'nothing'. After a while it simply ceases to be a successful technique ,and the intellectual vacumn becomes more and more obvious.

Nature(and politics) hates a vacumn and will work feverishly to fill the empty space. In the Dem's sad case, the void has been filled by an effete,insular,self-centered,historically clueless, reactionary clique. But it is not the decayed elite which is the real problem;it is the intellectual-moral VOID which allowed the loons to flood in and seize the levers of power.

Unhappily this makes the 'solution' to the problem much more difficult as those running the show are not sufficiently self-aware to understand why they are the WRONG people and must be replaced. They won't be volunteering to leave;they will have to be forced out. I can't see that happening any time soon. If anything things will likely get worse as the party continues to implode.

I never liked the cowboy in the Village People. I think he might have been gay--not that there's anything wrong with that.
