The lady is in her early 30's. The stunt she pulled was something you might expect from a teenager. She caused a lot of people a good deal of grief, not to mention a waste of public resources. If she isn't charged, she definitely needs professional counseling. My advice to her intended (John Mason) would be: Run, don't walk.

But hey, that's just because I'm a warm and fuzzy kind of guy . . .

Gwinnett Place Mall is going to be overwhelmed with returns of wedding gifts. They'll probably need special lines for her friends and relatives. "Now, sir, that's a very funny tale, but what is the REAL reason you're returning this gift?"

What puzzled me is why she put that loud towel over her head in the airport. First, everyone already knew what she looked like; second, the bright colors only brought more attention to her; and third, it made her appear as stupid as her stunt.

Now, the Gwinnett County D.A. is giving thought as to whether or not to charge her. She sure cost law enforcement and taxpayers a lot of time and money over nothing. I say, go for it.

Want to know who I feel sorry for? Her fiance'. That poor guy has been humiliated over the entire nation.

I haven't heard the outcry yet, but she claimed in her false report that a Hispanic male and a white woman abducted her. Whenever someone makes a claim against a made-up assailant, they typically put the blame on some minority. I guess that sounds more believable than claimng it was a middle-class, white accountant wielding a No. 2 pencil and with a Bush bumper sticker on his car.

I got to wondering this morning exactly what charges could be filed against Jennifer. Running off, misleading her family, catching a bus, hiding, and dumping her fiance' are not criminal acts. The fact that everyone presumed that she had been kidnapped and acted on that presumption isn't necessarily a crime of hers. The only thing she did wrong was to tell the Albuquerque police that she was abducted, which they quickly dispelled and for which they elected not to charge her. Then, I heard the Gwinnett County D.A. being interviewed on Glen Beck this morning, and he's not sure how to proceed. Well, as stupid as it sounds, I'm glad the story had this ending rather than one ending in her being strangled--but, maybe the story isn't over yet.

Woody: not only was her fiance humiliated he was a prime suspect (as he should be if she were truly abducted) and was subjected to comparisons to Scott Peterson, a lie detector test, etc.

I can't speak for him but, man, no apology is strong enough. As HB says: Run, don't walk.
