Public Service: My Georgia Ballot [Updated for Results]
Because some people find ballot choices for candidates and issues confusing, I will simplify them for Georgia voters by providing a glimpse at my intended ballot for Tuesday. I'm such a nice guy to share this insight.
State-Wide Races
I'm voting straight Republican for the state-wide candidates, but here are some notes:
Gov - Perdue (R) WON Not perfect, but better than Dem by a long shot
Lt Gov - Cagle (R) WON
SoS - Handel (R) WON
Atty Gen - McGuire (R) LOST
Agric - Black (R) LOST Although the Democrat has been good.
Ins - Oxendine (R) WON
School - Cox (R) WON
Labor - Brown (R) LOST
PSC 3 - Eaton (R) WON
PSC 5 - Wise (R) WON
US Rep 3 - (R) WON The Dem is fine, except he'd have to vote for Pelosi.
SCoGA - Wiggins (NP) LOST Just recommended by someone who knows.
Amendments
Amend 1 - Y (Eminent Domain) Doesn't go far enough, but in right direction. PASSED
Amend 2 - N (Protect Fishing/Hunting) I don't know if we need a constitutionally provided right to provide for fishing. PASSED
Amend 3 - N (Special Tags) This just got out of hand with too many and with more to come. PASSED
Referendums
Ref A - Y (Taxes on Farm Equip) Corrects accounting issue. Lease/Purchase is the same as purchase, so tax same. PASSED
Ref B - Y (Taxes on Historic Mil Aircraft) No strong feelings on this one. Probably helps to rehap historically imp. planes. PASSED
Ref C - N (Taxes on for-profit charity) Heck, no. All for-profit enterprises should compete paying the same taxes. PASSED
Ref D - N (Sr. Citizen Tax Exemp) Also coveres large, expensive estates. Costs too much in lost taxes. PASSED
Ref E - N (Tax Exemp Pubic Safety Widows) Hey, they get insurance and other benefits for this. PASSED
Ref F - Y (Con't tax exempt when spouse dies) A reluctant yes, because it provides continuation of existing benefit. PASSED
Local Races
All but one of the county races are unopposed Republicans because the Democrats know better. I live in a good county. The one contested spot is for commissioner in which a Republican CPA who identifies with Hawkeye of MASH and opposes spending for a park in my area is running against a Democrat who helped elect former Atlanta Mayor Mayard Jackson. I may write in my name. Really.
I hope this has been helpful, while not a surprise.

UPDATE: The Republicans in Georgia did very well as expected. As far as the amendments and referendums went, it's clear that only I and a few others actually read and understand them.
