Freedom Flies In Your Heart Like An Eagle
December 7, 1941. A day that will live in infamy. But from this day, a young Texas kid would lie about his age and go through the rigors of war in the 3rd Infantry Division and become the most decorated soldier in WWII. His name, Audi Murphy. This is a part of a Poem he wrote, but it is the most important part as we remember those who gave their lives after December 7, 1941 through the Iraq war in an effort to keep us free:
Freedom flies in your heart like an eagle. Let it soar with the winds high above Among the spirits of soldiers now sleeping, Guard it with care and with love.
Guard it with care and with love. Who could have said it better than Murph?
H/T to Andy, a commenter at BlackFive and while you are at it, read Black Five's "A Different Christmas Poem" posted by Subsunk. It is a tremendous poem.
