Prosecuter Ronnie Earle Goes Hollywood! Filmmakers Get Inside Access on Delay Case
It can now be told that Texas District Attorney Ronnie Earle will star in a new movie covering his work to discredit House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. What film crew couldn't resist his good looks, charm, sex appeal, and his determination to indict every Republican that he can--using his wile and leaks to the press.
Hollywood Heartthrob Ronnie Earle (Right)
Here are excerpts of from Byron York's article in the "National Review":
The DeLay prosecutor has let a film crew follow him through the whole case. For the last two years, as he pursued the investigation that led to Wednesday's indictment of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Travis County, Texas prosecutor Ronnie Earle has given a film crew "extraordinary access" to make a motion picture about his work on the case."We approached him [Earle], and he offered us extraordinary access to him and, to an extent, to his staff," (filmmaker) Birnbaum told National Review Online Thursday. "We've been shooting for about two years."
Earle "allowed us behind the scenes when the indictments came down last year, the first wave of indictments," (co-filmmaker) Schermbeck says. "We got to follow him back to his home a couple of times, which I understand he doesn't allow anybody to do."
"We're pretty low on everybody's radar," Schermbeck says. "We kind of took a gamble three years ago. We didn't know what was going to happen. We feel like, as documentary filmmakers, we gambled and it paid off."
Wow! What unexpected luck for them! And, don't let anyone convince you that Earle is violating Sections 3.07 and 3.09 of the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Conduct governing lawyers, which “strictly prohibits prosecutors from attempting to influence prospective jury members through pretrial publicity."
And, there is more great news! You can communicate directly with actor Earle, who would like to hear from you! Be sure to go to Earle's feedback site and share your enthusiam and views with him.
For previews of this blockbuster film, watch CBS and CNN every night, as they cover the real life heroics of up-and-coming film star Ronnie Earle over and over and over and over and over.... Move over Tom Cruise!

I went to the site I could not find a place to comment just contribute. True there is a snail mail address but I would not waste a stamp on this prosecutor who breaks the law. One article described him as eccentric so he must have money or else he would be just another mental case wandering the streets.

Huh, in terms of pre-trial publicity, if it hadn't been for Brian York, nobody would have even heard about this film. Don't know about you, but I knda doubt Brian is acting as Earle's press secretary. The thing isn't finished yet.
Unless you've seen the fim - which is said to be completely self-financed by the filmamkers - you might want to reserve judgement. Afterall, the Roy Minton quote you reproduce from the film is testimony that the thing might be a fair take on the case.
I don't think Earle or his staff are dumb enough to have let a couple of low-rent filmmakers ruin what he says is the most important case of his career.

Clayton, thanks for your good points. In response, the filming was a secret only outside of Travis County, Texas--not within the county where the grand jury and trial are. Also, if there was ANY possibility of the film getting out, then that was enough reason not to do it--and, it did get out and there was EVERY expectation that it would.
Worse, the prosecutor now is tainted further for being part of a documentary that would have been scrapped unless he pursued the case--no matter if the merits of it are questionable. He permitted his independence and objectivity to be impaired further.
There is nothing good about this film and everything bad. It shouldn't have been made and the prosecutor should have kept his distance from it. I'm not an attorney, but I suspect that the release of this film is enough for a judge to declare that there would be pre-trial prejudice and that Delay could not get a fair trial. Maybe someone with a legal background could shed more light on the technicalities of this issue.
There is no question in my mind that Earle is a hack for the Democrats and went to extraordinary lengths to get "retribution" against Delay and sought an indictment on something for which he would normally have given a pass.
Also, this case may be the most important case of his career simply because it is a major political attack while it has nothing to do with protecting the citizens of the county. You and others need to see this for what it is. There is no more need for me or anyone to reserve judgement when the entire Democratic Party and the press has not withheld theirs.

Since this post was done, Ronnie Earle has completely changed his web site. His original one had a lot about helping the people of Austin and Travis County by making them safe from crime. Now, he has turned it into a political, self-promotion site.
