Democrats on Tom Delay: End Justifies the Means [UPDATED]
You've likely heard that Republican House Majority Leader Tom Delay has been indicted (not convicted!) on one count of criminal conspiracy after extensive efforts by Democratic District Attorney Ronnie Earle--much to the delight of liberals, whose blogs are all aglow. If Delay is as corrupt and evil as the left portrays him, then why couldn't this partisan D.A. find something more serious than a charge of no substance? But, we know what's really going on and that the people behind the smear are misusing our legal system for political gains, and they don't care what it costs the taxpayers to prosecute. Why, getting the taxpayers to pay for the investigation, prosecution, and trial is just like extorting campaign contributions for the Democrats.
Isn't it ironic that the Democrats act dishonorably to bring down someone whom they accuse of being dishonorable? To many, that makes them worse than the person they accuse.
From Michelle Malkin comes this excerpted information on the D.A. by former DOJ official Barbara Comstock:
Ronnie Earle argues that Tom DeLay conspired to make a contribution to a political party in violation of the Texas Election Code. There was no contribution to a political party in violation of the Texas Election Code. There was no conspiracy. Ronnie Earle is wrong on the facts. Ronnie Earle is wrong on the law.Ronnie Earle has a history of using his office for attacks on his political and personal enemies. Earle has demonstrated a past zeal for indicting conservative figures and even liberals with whom he has personal or professional disagreements. Earle's partisan prosecutions - which have frequently failed - are designed for political harm, not legal harm.
Ronnie Earle's three year political vendetta against Rep. DeLay has been marked by:
Illegal grand jury leaks,
A fundraising speech by Earle for the Texas Democrat party that inappropriately focused on the investigation,
Misuse of his office for partisan purposes, and
Extortion of money for Earle's pet projects from corporations in exchange for dismissing indictments he brought against them.
It's pretty obvious that the Democrats are willing to go to any lengths, or should I say depths, to attack their opponents because, to them, the end justifies the means. Is that how justice is meant to work?
UPDATE: More on the chicanery of Ronnie Earl here, and here, AND in an eerily prescient post by our own GM titled No Delay In The War On Delay noted "Stay tuned folks, this is going to get nasty." And so it is.
Posted by GM Roper at September 28, 2005 08:40 PM | TrackBackHey GM, I heard that Earle actually filed charges against himself in some grand point making scheme. It is more proof that this man places little value on tax payer's money. He is not only a scoundrel but he is criminally misusing state funds.

Ken at Squamata Report (which by the way is a great blog, go see it by clicking his on his name in either of the above posts) is referring to my wife being ill. We spent almost all of Sunday in the ER and she had a CT scan on Monday. Surgery is a possibility in the near future, but it is not serious.
Ken, thank you for your prayers.

The left has gotten so extreme that they don't care what they say, truth be damned, or what legal charges they throw into the political arena in order to make their false points, anything to sway or otherwise influence the houghts of the voters.
Even after Delay has been cleared, the liberal media will conveniently overlook it or else apply the "hanging chad" philosophy re "Delay is guilty, but his conservative cronies blah, blah, blah," and Democrats + moderates who limit their news intake to the MSM will go on believing that he's guilty.
It's like when an attorney says something that gets objected to and sustained (as he knew it would, but he's planting a seed of doubt) leaves a desired impression on the jury.
The liberals have been using such innuendo a lot of late, for the above purpose.
