My New Car!
I just bought a new 2006 Automobile, but I returned to the dealer the next day, complaining that I couldn't figure out how the radio worked.
The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated. "Watch this!" he said, "Nelson!" The radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?"
"Willie!" he continued, and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers. I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven!", I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles!", I'd get one of their awesome songs.
One day, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in time to avoid them.
"CREEPS, JERKS, IDIOTS!" I yelled.
The French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Michael Moore, backed up by John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums and Bill Clinton on sax....
I LOVE this car !!!!!!!!!
Would you say "Democrat" to get "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves?"

But of course!
That was a joke Jim.... well, probably one!

Did you get the special armadillo avoidance system? Can't have you running over the State Bird of Texas!
Posted by jim hitchcock at September 18, 2005 05:11 PM
Jim probably doesn't know that an Armadillo is a mammal not a bird and the Texas state bird is the Mockingbird a aves that it shares with Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Florida.
All of those are RED states so I guess you can be forgiven for not knowing it. Oh, and Jim, the Armadillo Avoidance System (AAS) is no good at avoiding Liberals.. Probably why you see so few of those critters in the above noted states. ;-P

"Jim probably doesn't know that an Armadillo is a mammal not a bird..."
And another joke plummets to the rocks below...

Wow... You guys say this:
we don't accept "cute" personal attacks or disrespect for views and ideas
But then you post stuff like the joke above inviting personal attacks and disrespect. Be consistent, Gentlemen. You can't take both the high road and the low road at the same time.

Michael with a B. Get over it. If you don't understand the difference between personal attacks and banter back and forth between obvious friends... well, what can I say! Too, if you go to catagories and click on humor, you wil find this post. That should be an indicator for you.
Jim, as the object of my "personal attack" care to comment to Michael with a B.?
But, you are welcome to continue to post your POV.

Many hugzz, blog-bro'!

G.M., Michael B. is like so many on the left. You can show them facts and proper analysis, but they never give up even to the point of being absurd. No matter what you say, it's always "yeah, but this" and "yeah, but that."

Woody, you evidently have a history with Michael B and some animus towards him, but please give him a fair chance before you go ad hominem.
Michael B, if you haven't already, please read through the last 10-15 postings to get a flavor for the discussions. The regulars here really try to thread the needle between passion and respect, which is why this is my favorite site. We also at times like to engage in some fun, although certainly not everybody finds the same things equally humorous. For instance, this posting I found moderately clever but not particularly funny. But that's okay; we're all individuals.
However, I do believe GM means it when he says "this is the place where truth, honesty, and integrity are honored above all else." Nobody's perfect, of course. But my trust lets me show forebearance when my sensitivities get ruffled.
So come take your shoes off and join us in the living room. But remember, we are all guests in GM's house.

Civil, thanks for your input of reason and also for your compliment of the site. We really appreciate the balance and wisdom that you share.
I really don't have anything against M.B. except that he followed me here after I quit commenting at another site because I had no patience for the style of reply that I found there and by him. I'm not "sensitive," but I do have better uses for my time.
Like you, I'll welcome Michael B., as I would any commenter. Maybe he just needed to understand the format here as you explained it.

GM this is GREAT...how damn funny.
Michael B.:
Get a GRIP dude. It's a joke. Don't be so stiff and uptight. Sheesh. Lighten up a little.

Ok boys and girls... I'll try to play nice for a while and particpate in the discussions in good faith just to see what comes of it. I don't have high hopes, though.
And just to give you an idea of what kind of liberal I am, let me say that I have more respect for Michael Moore than I do for any of the career politicians mentioned in the joke above. They are really no better than Bush in my opinion.
And honest to God, I don't understand why you guys hate the French so. Or at least why you hate French people and French culture. Why not separate your feelings for them from your feelings towards the French government?
Posted by Michael B at September 19, 2005 08:00 PM
MichaelB, you do have a valid point that after 2-1/2 years, it does seem silly to keep singling out the French -- the jokes are wearing thin. I'm glad I've been able to go back to ordering French fries. Besides, Turkey harmed the war effort far more by denying us airspace at the last minute before the Iraq invasion, but I don't hear many Turk jokes.
Posted by civil truth at September 19, 2005 10:44 PM
CT, Turkish jokes are harder to come by, as they don't have a record of surrendering at the drop of a hat, and their disdain for America is not well documented, although their government decision did hurt the U.S. war effort, as you stated. So, what's the solution--cut back on the French jokes or step it up on the Turkish jokes?
Regarding Michael B., who doesn't have high hopes for discussions, this is like a lot of things in life--you get out of it what you put into it.
