Judge Roberts and Political Wars
Judge Roberts has been nominated for the SCOTUS. Here is a great bio of him and I urge you to read it. Then take the poll below. It's not scientific, and it is in fun, but vote the way you really think.
Cool poll! The left are gonna fight this one.

Ann Coulter, no friend to the left, says that Bush may not have made a good Supreme Court selection for conservatives.
She writes:
"We don’t know much about John Roberts. Stealth nominees have never turned out to be a pleasant surprise for conservatives. Never. Not ever... Oh, yeah...we know he's argued cases before the supreme court. big deal; so has Larry Flynt's attorney. ...As I’ve said before, if a majority of Americans agreed with liberals on abortion, gay marriage, pornography, criminals’ rights, and property rights –liberals wouldn’t need the Supreme Court to give them everything they want through invented “constitutional†rights invisible to everyone but People For the American Way."
Is she being too nice?

Will the world take notice that Woody and I disagree on Coulter. She does have some good ideas, but her presentation of those ideas is not designed, IMHO, to convince, but to shock. She is a brilliant thinker who wraps her thoughts in pretty obnoxious wrappings. If she toned down her rhetoric, she might actually convince more folk of the wisdom of her words.
Having said that, I'm a firm believer that the President, who ever he is, get's to pick their SC judges and those judges deserve an up or down vote on their merits. Not on a political litmus test.
From what I've read about Roberts, from a variety of sources, he might just turn out to be OK.

I voted for the fries. I think that the Senate should hold the confirmation process at McDonalds and Roberts can pull up to the drive-up window and answer their questions through that scratchy squawk box. Schumer: "Judge Roberts, do you oppose legal abortion?" Roberts: "What, I can't understand you. Do I want a big size portion? Yeah, and give me fries with that." Schumer: "Pull around to the second window for your confirmation." I guess in that world that you could call it a Happy Meal.
Let me add my endorsement for the fries. If you haven't voted yet, please vote for the fries! They're the only choice that will leave a good taste in your mouth.
