What is YOUR affiliation?
Something new. I'm asking all readers of this blog to vote in this poll. If you know of other friends who usually do not come to this site, please ask them to come and vote on this link. Feel free to e-mail this link to friends. I'm trying to find out the extent of political leanings of a fairly large number of people. This will not record your name or anything, I'm just asking for a vote and the vote of your friends. Read all statements carefully as I tried to include a lot of choices... And now, on to the poll.
I voted that I was liberal and always voted Democrat, but that's because I've only voted in 2002 and 2004. I didn't register in 2000 because I wasn't informed, and I figured that an uninformed vote wasn't worth making. I would have put that I vote mostly democrat and sometimes republican, but that hasn't yet been the case in my limited experience.

Fargus,
Good call not to put in a uninformed vote. Despite what MTV and its ilk say just going out and excercising your right to vote isn't a good thing, unless you know who you are voting for and why. Once you look overa candidates platform and record, then an intelligent decisions based on one's beliefs can be made. That is the entire "VOTE OR DIE" and "ROCK THE VOTE" MTV campaigns just made me sick. Their entire "we want you to vote. it is important to vote. oh, and please vote for the liberal candidates that we paint in a favorable light and gloss over their plans" approach.

I am a conservative but often vote for Republican and for the Constitution Party candidates, depending on the positions and who is running for what office.
I did not vote in the poll because none of the options above didn't quite fit.
Thanks.

Are you assuming that it is impossible to be onservative and vote Democrat? I'm conservative, and I REFUSE to vote Democrat, but I know many Democrats who would swear up and down they're conservative. Also, the Republican Party counts on a large number of these folks to cross over -- the so-called "Reagan Democrats."

And how exactly, Duncan, were the efforts of fundamentalist churches in getting out the vote for their guy any different than `Rock the Vote'?
And why exactly is getting young voters to actually think about issues and and participate in democracy a problem for you?
