Dean Tells It Like Is, For A Change!
Howard "The Scream" Dean lambasted the folks at John Conyer's pseudo-hearing WaPo reports:
A handful of people at Democratic National Headquarters distributed material critical of Israel during a public forum questioning the Bush administration's Iraq policy, drawing an angry response and charges of anti-Semitism from party chairman Howard Dean on Friday."We disavow the anti-Semitic literature, and the Democratic National Committee stands in absolute disagreement with and condemns the allegations," Dean said in a statement posted on the DNC Web site.
Roger Simon goes to the heart of the matter:
"Howard Dean was right to be appalled by some of the activities at Democratic National Headquarters yesterday (leafleters blaming Israel for 9/11, etc.), but were they really surprising given the nature of the kangaroo court in progress? My prediction... if this continues in any way... is that Dean et al will have a lot of damage control to do because liberal Jews--who have been a mainstay of the Democratic Party for nearly a century--will soon be deserting that organization with the speed of refugees fleeing the Cossacks. Barney Frank, who participated in this absurd meeting, in particular should be ashamed of himself for enabling this nonsense. When Eason Jordan slandered the US military, Frank stood up against the calumny. He better do it now, loud and clear - or it's hard to call him a liberal in any sense of the word. What's going on with the "liberal" (what in the world does that mean anymore?) wing of the Democratic Party. First Senator Durbin compares the US military to Nazis. Now this? Did these people have mass lobotomies? Enough! [emphasis added]"
But, when you get down to it, the looney left has always been somewhat anti-semetic and no, I'm not talking about being anti-Israel, or even being anti-some of the things Israel's done, I'm talking anti semitic. As Glenn Reynolds noted: "... it's a shame that it's necessary." I couldn't agree more.
A tip of the GM Chapeaux to Glenn Reynolds.

Let me get this clear, a former CIA agent who was 100% right in his pre-war criticisms of the 'evidence' of WMDs is 'anti-semitic' because he makes a comment critical of Israel that could easily be published in the columns of Haartez without a causing so much as a flutter of the heart? What a joke. A new low standard for the definition of 'anti-semitic' in the 'liberal' media: criticizing Israel!
Hey, hold on here, I thought you guys were saying that Dean was a far leftie outta control politician? Doesn't sound that much different from Bush or the Washington Post's Party line, eh?

Steve, it is amazing how you can take things out of context. I said "right on" to dean because he did the right thing. That doesn't mean he is always right or even right much of the time. He's not. But I even note when you are right.
You have a tendency to be black or white and the world is full of shades of gray. People can hold competing thoughts all the time. I hated LBJ for his idiocies, but he was right about the civil rights issues. I can't stand Jimmy Carter, but he was right when it came to holding our allies accountable for their human rights records. I can't stand, and never could, Trickey Dick Nixon, but he did do some good things. Clinton campaigned on some good stuff in '92 but didn't follow through. Bush was right to take out Saddam, but hasn't followed through as he probably should have.
Get the picture? It's not all one thing or another. I even like you though I am a tried and true conservative. YOU have the saving grace of being a Red Sox fan and other friends are Yankee fans but their politics are much closer to mine than yours are.

well, yeah, ok, except the way you characterize him is usually as a far leftie. I mean, this seems to show quite plainly he's little different from most corporate liberals, no?
