Cinco de Mayo
Skip Caray on the Braves game last night came up with an interesting observation. He said, "Did you notice that Cinco de Mayo is always celebrated in early May?" With brilliant comments like that, we're going to send him to the Cubs to to fill in where his father, Harry Caray, left off.
Speaking of Caray-like comments, did you notice that today's date is 5-5-5? Well, if you missed it, you can wait until next year when we have 6-6-6. But, I don't think a date with 666 would be a good day for National Day of Prayer.

Too funny, GM. Of course, don't count on being one of the FDR Association's Good Neighbors of the Year.

If Napoleon III had been a bit more like his earlier relative, bi-lingual education might mean attempting to teach French speaking kids how to speak English. I am not much into alternate history, but if the French had done an envelopement vice a direct assault at the forts guarding Puebla, much might be different. Most, sadly, don't learn from history. They did the same thing in WW I. The Germans learned and developed blitzkrieg. Thus, the French lost, in actuality, thrice in this comment. Mexico, WWI and WW II.
Side Note: La Legion Etrangere (The French Foreign Legion) celebrates as their "regimental" day, the battle at Camerone...in Mexico. One company of Legionnaires under command of Captain Danjou, with a wooden hand from the Crimean War, was surrounded and all save one corporal and two legionnaires were killed. The three were all wounded. The Mexican Army saluted them and allowed them to leave with their weapons and colors. This is stuff you REALLY need to know. Right.
