Blogging for Terri
I've been asked twice now about why I'm blogging for Terri Schiavo. "You are in Texas, she is in Florida, what possible impact can you have?"
Reminds me of the story of an elderly and frail gentleman walking down the storm swept beach with his young grandson in the early hour of the day, while it was still cool and damp.
The storm the night before had been one of those storms that sent waves far up the beach, farther than usual. The detritus swept onto the beach included hundreds of starfish.
As the old man would pass a starfish, he would reach down, pluck it from the sand where the heat of the day would surely kill it and gently placed it back in the water.
"My beloved grandfather" said the grandson, "why do you do that?"
"Because" said the old man, "though it is cool and damp this morning, by midday, the sun will be hot and the starfish will die." Then, he bent down and plucked another starfish off the sand and gently placed it too into the water.
"Grandfather, the storm last night was vast, and there are hundreds of storms a year. Why go to the effort? You can't possibly make any difference in the number of those things dying."
The grandfather, seeing another picked it up and placed it in the water also. He turned and looked gently on his grandson and said:
"I made a difference to that one."
I hope that I can make a difference for Terri, that's all, just a small difference.

I am definitely putting this blog in my favorites. Well said and my youngest son is one of those starfish who may be affected by Terri's legalized murder. Severe brain damage at birth the doctors at the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) told us Alex would never talk that he would be blind and asked if we wanted the state to take care of him. We told them he is our child and we were taking him home. Nineteen years later he talks and is able to see although legally blind. He has cerebal palsy and needs a wheelchair to get around. He may outlive us but his older brother and sister help to care for him now that we are getting older. If Alex someday should need to be cared for I would hope that he not be starved and dehydrated because he is disabled. Terri's life matters. I have been following this travesty of justice for several years now and I keep wondering what is wrong with our judicial system that keeps Terri from those who love her.

Your comments are insperational!! Every thing and every person in the world has a purpose. Things happen in the Lord's time not in man's time. Life is such a pericous gift and all such remenber that everyday!! Terri life is a very special thing, no matter the situation! That is the one thing that the courts are not taking into account. If her husband does not remember this he needs to let her parent take charge.
