Time to Take Terrorism Seriously Again

The Presidential candidates rarely mention terrorism as a top issue for American concerns.  We've become complacent.  This is what Liberty looks like under radical Islamic rule.  Concerned?  Think about this when deciding upon your votes.

OK I am breaking my self-imposed rule of not commenting on certain issues.

I'm sure there are many reasons why a posting like this is not as full of cognitive dissonance as I believe it to be but I really can't see it. I've really tried but no luck. But I'm not too bright.

McCain speaks of almost nothing BUT terrorism every day. Each and every day. And yet he is the butt of invective, and disdain from the same posters who now direly warn us of the importance of the terrorism issue ,and advise solemnly, that we should  vote accordingly.

How many Presidential candidates do you imagine are going to be on the ballot in November ?

Is none of the above suddenly going to come out of nowhere in a surprise campaign, and in an electoral upset of monumental proportions, be declared the next President ? If so let me know now. I can make some real money on the Intrade market. REAL MONEY. And I like money.

If not the options will be McCain, Obama, Clinton.

Period. No exceptions. No do-overs.

Since it is almost universally accepted that two of the three are very 'suspect' on the terrorism issue, are you saying that McCain should get the vote of those who are rightfully concerned with this issue?

And if you are in fact saying that, then what purpose pray tell is served by the continuing attacks on the candidate that you are suggesting people vote for ? If politics is really 'war by other means', I fail to see how shelling your own lines with gleeful abandon, is somehow helpful to the big picture. Seems kind of 'indulgent' to me. And not in a good way. Not liking the General would not seemingly justify shelling his headquarters rather than the enemy trenches, just before the decisive battles, nor would it be a really great idea for morale to post circulars everywhere saying that your own leadership is a collection of poltroons unworthy of support before heading for the front.

But then again as I said, I'm not too bright.

2 dougf, I've seen polls of the issues that Americans consider the most important.  The Democrats have dictated the discussions, and terrorism is way down on their list.  It's time for the Republicans to bring that issue back to the top.

3 Now, that does sound like the right choice.  It's probably best not to dwell on the economy, the health care system, the national budget, or peace in the Middle East.  The Party should stick with what it does best.

4  JJ, actually, that is a good point, but doesn't leave out the necessity to keep our eye on terrorism does it.  The Repubs just don't play all that they could play in the electoral arena.
