Give a Thanksgiving "Thank You" meal to our severely wounded troops!

A worthy cause received in my e-mail from Townhall.com

Dear Patriotic American,

This Thanksgiving thousands of severely burned, blinded or paralyzed troops will be struggling to put food on the table.

By clicking here you can make a tax-deductible donation to the “Thanksgiving Thank Youmeals project, sponsored by the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. Our Thanksgiving Thank Youproject was created to provide meals for our wounded heroes and their families over Thanksgiving weekend.

And by clicking here you can send a special Thanksgiving THANK YOU and GET WELL card to a disabled serviceman or woman. A THANK YOU and GET WELL card from you can help in their healing and let them know you’re thankful for the sacrifices they’ve made. (You can even type in a personal greeting if you like!)

My name is General Chip Diehl (Ret.), and I’m writing to you on behalf of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. The Coalition was formed in 2004 to provide emergency financial aid to severely wounded troops and their families in crisis.

So far our generous supporters have satisfied more than 6,300 requests for emergency financial aid and other assistance.

In the process we’ve sent our severely wounded troops and their families more than $11 million.

As Thanksgiving nears, can I count on you to participate in the Coalition’s Thanksgiving Thank You meals project?  In order to deliver their Thanksgiving checks and greeting cards before the Thanksgiving weekend, we must mail them in the next few weeks. So please click here to make your tax-deductible donation right now.

Here’s why so many severely disabled troops are struggling financially: Those who have lost their arms or legs, or have been blinded, paralyzed or brain-damaged – can’t be left alone. And most families can’t afford a professional caretaker.

So the wounded GI’s spouse is forced to quit their job to care for them. In fact a recent survey by the Coalition shows 46 percent – or nearly half – of all spouses of wounded GIs have done so. Soon the family is having trouble putting food on the table and paying for rent, utility bills and other necessities.

A gift of $60 can help provide Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings for one severely wounded GI and his or her family, $120 can help feed two families, $180 can provide dinner for three families, and so on. And a gift of $15, $25 or $35 can be combined with other donations to feed a family in need over the entire Thanksgiving weekend.

Please click here to help feed the family of a severely wounded serviceman or woman this Thanksgiving. As you can imagine . . .

The sputtering economy, combined with rising food and gas prices, has hit our wounded troops especially hard.

In fact, requests for emergency aid have skyrocketed by over 300 percent in the past few months. Your gift to the Coalition’s Thanksgiving Thank You project could help a disabled servicewoman like Kristi P. After receiving an emergency aid check from the Coalition’s donors, Kristi wrote back to say:

“Your gift brought tears of Thanksgiving to my eyes. . . .  It felt like God was smiling upon me and reminding me that what I gave really did matter.”

You can make a young serviceman or woman just like Kristi P. feel like God is smiling upon them over Thanksgiving weekend. All you have to do is click here to send them a thoughtful THANK YOU and GET WELL card.

Then click here to make a donation to help put Thanksgiving dinner on their family’s table.

They were there for us, and now we need to be there for them.

With respect and gratitude,

sig
Brigadier Gen. Arthur F. “Chip” Diehl III

Give what you can, for they have given too and in ways few of us have shared!

I applaud your convictions and your sacrifice for our country.  What I do not appreciate is that the RNP is using you as a spokesman for their campaign to elect McCain.  I'm sorry to disapoint you but although I WILL give our military the meals and honor they deserve I cannot condone your being on the side of this administration who got us into a war that was unjust and has caused our country to lose jobs, our retirements and the respect of the world.  Thank God we didn't invest our Social Security into the wallstreet idea.

Sincerely,
