The Associated Press writer JENNIFER C. KERR can't bitch about the war being lost, so she does the next best thing. This headline shows their real motive "AP IMPACT: Number of disabled veterans rising"
Uh, Jennifer, I don't want to bust your bubble, you probably being a journalism graduate and all, but in war, people get wounded and killed. Those that used to die of their wounds, now are often saved because of the heroic actions of medivac pilots, corpsmen and MASH personnel. That also means that a higher percentage will need long term care. Well, Jennifer sees some of the light: Why?
Worse wounds. More disabilities. More vets aware of the benefits and quicker to file for them.
Also, ironically, advanced medical care. Troops come home with devastating injuries that might well have killed them in earlier wars.
No Jennifer, not worse wounds, bad wounds yes, but not the killers that they used to be. More vets are aware Jennifer? Wow, you don't want them to be aware? Oh, and Jennifer, the fact that the folk I've listed are saving those lives in increasingly large numbers that is not a good thing?
If our troops in harms way are going to get hurt, and they are Jennifer, I'd rather they come home wounded than in a box. Wouldn't you Jennifer?
But don't worry Jennifer, we, the people of the United States will do our duty to these heros, or by God know the reason why. So, you congress critters, don't let us down or we will reploace your fat asses.

I am going to say this again and again and again, and to any that don’t like it, don’t believe it or can’t support it, click the ‘X’ at the top right of your screen and LEAVE!!
Our Veterans, and their care comes 1st!!
These wonderful guys and gals have given this nation everything they have to give physically, many have given their lives, the ultimate sacrifice, and that’s the way it goes for folks in the military and I fully understand that, but the ones that DO survive must be cared for in the most top shelf fashion imaginable…
Our government continues to spend BILLIONS of our tax dollars to rebuild a war torn nation that is still engaged in a civil war, although there is nothing civil about that or any other war…
Why spend our money rebuilding Iraq, our money, when it could be much better spent taking care of the troops that come back home with life changing injuries and disabilities??
America 1st, and American SOLDIERS 1st, if that idea is beyond your realm of comprehension then you are reading the wrong blog, this isn’t about politics, it’s not about right, left, Dem, Repub or any of that, it’s all about doing the best job for our injured Vets no matter what it costs, and if it means we have to cut back on the rehabilitation of an OIL RICH nation like Iraq, then so be it!!

So if there were not an increase in disabled veterans, she would find something else to complain about. Jennifer is a poor, sad, person who can only see bad things. She lives for bad news. I hope that one day she will change and will not be so bitter and hateful.

How is it possible that members of the military are 'more aware' of the benefits available? According to a load of democrats the only reason they're in the military is they didn't learn to 'read and rite' and got stuck in Irak. The funny thing is that during the past 7 years thousand of Vietnam Vet's have managed to get their benefits also. Could it be the expanded care and 'massive increase' in funds to the VA provided by the Boooosh administration? That will end with a Hussein/Clinton administration.
Retired military.

Since congress is composed of mostly useless "critters", just how many of them have you been able to replace? To date, if a "critter" is elected to congress, all he has to do is run again and he is reelected. There have been damn few ever defeated after they have served a term. Even the worst of them all, Tom Delay, had to be declared ineligible to run before he could be gotten out of Congress
I presume that you know this, so why do you make toothless threats?
While I am on the subject, just who do you expect to vote for? I will start the answer by saying that if Obama is nominated, I will not vote for the presidency, because I have never seen Texas Freds "None of the Above" on any voting machine in Harris or Montgomery Counties.
And finally, I hate George Bush, I hate his Republican philosophy, I hate his economic policies, I hate the economic destruction he has brought down on my Country I hate the fact that he can persuade the politicians to approve the continuing debt, I hate the fact that he primarily is the cause of so many deaths and injuries to so many of the young people that will never be able to contribute as they would have before Bushes lies brought us to this state.
OK, I've said it, now you brave people can admit that this is true, or you can continue to try and see through the wool that is pulled over your eyes.

James, how long have you had the Democratic Slicker pulled over your head? At least we can partly see through wool.
As for uttering toothles threats, your own diatribe is about as factual as Pete Rose saying he didn't gamble. If you want to buy the Democratic line right down the middle, fine, but don't accuse conservatives of being solely responsible. It seems to me that the majority voted AGAINST Kerry and the majority of states Bush won against GORE and don't give me that stolen election crap either. You and I both know that isn't true.
I'm not sure who I'd vote for, perhaps I'll vote for YOU as a write in. Then I can bitch like hell when your typical Democrat programs cause even MORE problems. I'm not voting for Obama, Shrillary hasn't a chance at the nomination unless she steals it somehow (and she is fully capable of doing that) and McCain is Democrat Lite. So, I may vote libertarian, or not at all, or write You in. For sure it will be none of the above.

When Roosevelt was the president, people of certain bent called him "The American Destroyer" You know what? Roosevelt was penny ante compared to the damage caused by the present administration.
Oh yes, I have been a democrat since I started voting in 1941.But I did vote for Eisenhower, who was the last republican with the country first. He said, "beware the military-industrial (Maybe it was Industrial-Military) controlof our economy. Well he was right on. It is unfortunate that people have forgotten that warning.

Again Jimmy, don't accuse conservatives of being solely responsible. A HUGE part of the problem we face today whether it be the economy (1), a drastically cut military (2), boobs for president (3) or even the toothless threats (4). Lets see: (1) Democrats have ruled the house and senate for 41 of the last 56 years... remember when Medicare wouldn't cost more than 18 billion (thus spake Hubert Humphery), (2) Peace dividend? Ring a bell as Clinton ("I loathe the military") gutted the military services, (3) boobs for president - does the name Jimmy Carter or LBJ ring a bell? (4) Jimmy's threats to get the mullah's or how about Clinton's promise to "get" the folk causing the bombing in Saudi Arabia or the USS Cole or hell even the 1993 bombing of the Twin Towers?
You once said (fatuously it seems) that you used to be a republican... your voting for Ike no more makes you a republican than my vote for Humphery in 68 or even worse my vote for Clinton in 92 (yes, because Bush broke his promise regarding "no new taxes." Turns out that Clinton was the bigger liar - my bad - and even then I've apparantly voted for more dems than you have for republicans.
You didn't touch a nerve, but I always respond when you piss on my leg and tell me its raining.
