Now it is time to go to work

My comment on another blog:

Congratulations to all of you who hoped, prayed and fought for this day. My single consolation is that America may have indeed put most of its racism behind it. Some predictions if you will.
1. Gitmo will not be closed by Obama because I don’t think he could stand the oppobrium of letting loose a bunch of terrorists.
2. We will still be in Iraq until 2011 at the earliest, and Obama will not listen to his generals in regards to Afghanistan and Pakistan will become much more dangerous.
3. Iranian intransigence will continue and even escalate.
4. Terrorism will increase in Israel with the islamofascists believing (wrongly I think) that they will have a “free hand.”
5. Inflation will hit 15% before his mid term and the republicans, if they are smart, which I doubt at this point, may make a comeback in both the house and the senate.
6. get ready for the biggest tax increases you have ever seen - women and minorities hit the hardest.
7. The Democrats in will usher in the most corrupt and free spending congress the world has seen.
8. You will get card-check and union membership will still decline as a percentage of the workforce, but the labor bosses will become more corrupt and power mad than you have ever seen.
9. The press will turn on Obama no later than the end of his first year in office.
10. despite my misgivings, and they are plenty, I remain in the game promoting conservative ideas.
To that, I will add:
11.  Obama will be a one term president.

 12. We have our work cut out for us and we WILL elect a conservative congress because the one led by Pelosi and Reid is the most corrupt ever.

1 Hmm, no `authored by...'. Guess that's because it's just so much nonsense

2 Corrected just for you Jim... but don't forget, the above predictions are pretty much the same type of predictions that you and the other members of the left were making in 2004.  How short your memory is.

3 I should add, I'm very happy about # 10. And # 12? Could very well happen. American's do tend to favor the idea of 2 party gov't.

And it's going to be interesting as all hell watching Obama battle Pelosi and Reid.

Did I tell you I just took a business call from a second cousin of Antonin Scalia? I did not bring up last night

4 Well, yeah, we predicted some pretty outlandish stuff but darned if most of it didn't come true!

Ummm, I think you might be whistling past the you-know-what with this observation. The odds are that the 'One' will tank badly due to the horrendous objective conditions, but---
A. He has a LOT of time to blame everything on Bush before it is seen as his responsibility, and
B. He is NOT stupid. You might well be surprised to see how 'cunningly' he stages things so that he looks Presidential and engaged during the next two( at least) difficult years. He can 'spin' events and reality quite astutely. And he will.

ps--- I was going to say this before the election, but didn't want to impose a negative viewpoint The election was over the day after the Sub-Prime Emergency Credit Debacle was announced. Frankly the Republicans are lucky that they were running only against the Democrats. Against a 'real' Party with a bare minimum of 'loons', I think they might have been eviscerated.

By the by, I hold Bush completely responsible for the Sub-Prime mess. The buck ALWAYS stops at that desk and if you can't see the scope of a MAJOR problem until it actually blows up in your face , then perhaps you should not be sitting at that desk. I'll bet the public largely sees it like that .

And that alone doomed McCain who immediately after the Conventions, looked to be in pretty good shape.

10 We all remember how nice and gracious the Democrats were after Bush won in 2000.

12 Jim, PUH-LEZE   Recount?  That hollywood paean to democrat talking points and fiction... come on buddy, I know you have the inclination to gloat and I don't blame you... but RECOUNT?  (and I did watch it... if you truly watched it as an accurate 'movie' as opposed something you lefties used to soothe your feelings because your boy lost, well, tis your problem

That's called wiggling. In other words lying to cover up the mess he is making.  He can spin(lie) it all he wants but time will show just what a disaster this "experiment "in socialism was.

14 My Goodness, when I read your prognostigations I get a warm, cozy feeling. All a person has to do is check on the forecasts that you guys have made for the past several years, and consider that you all have been wrong about 99.98% of the time. So I feel that I can extrapolate your forecasts and KNOW that the country will prosper. Quit your crybaby ways and realize that the majority of the country has elected the party of their choice.
Please try to explain what you are trying to accomplish,
To the person that quoted the Declaration of Independence, the right of a state to secede from the Union was settled in 1864.  A republican president took the action that setteled that.
George, change the head of this blog. You are not the LOYAL opposition, you are just the opposition./

15 James, a state can secede from the union as long as it has the military to back it up.  Likewise, people have a right to overthrow a government that works against their inalienable rights, as long as they have their guns.
