From todays AP: Stocks fell just shy of 500 points. See, I told you so!
Democrats: No fair GM, that was profit taking from a down market...
Oh Yeah? How about this:
The most cited paper was published in the Journal of Finance in October, 2003 by two University of California economists, Pedro Santa-Clara and Rossen Valkanov. They found 9% higher stock market gains for large stocks in Democratic administrations since 1928.And yet, the market fell 500 points the DAY AFTER Obama was elected. BOHIC (Bend Over, Here It Comes)![...]
Vanguard published an excellent summary of this econometric work on October 23, 2008. In particular, look carefully at Figure 1. It shows that the stock market rose in every year since 1940 and that the massive rebound in 1933 from the lowest levels of the Depression overly influenced the results. It also shows that, after the Depression, the stock market grew almost equally in Republican and Democratic administrations if you drop the 1974 recession (caused by the first energy crisis, which was hardly President Nixon's fault) and the 2001 recession (which was in progress before President Bush 43 took office). Figure 2 shows that the stock market return since 1852 has been virtually the same for Republicans at 8.66% and for Democrats at 8.97%."

Were you not making excuses for the economic decline for the last number of months? Were the markets NOT at that time reacting to Republicans?
Now of course, it is Obama. The day of the election when the dow went up, not Obama. Down, Obama. See the logic?
You might want to look at the volatility of the last couple of months. Maybe find the pattern.
Was the growth in the 90's Clinton? Luck? Republican congress?
God GM, YOU are nuts.

All of this didn't stem from Fannie and Freddie and don't even say it was just the Democrats protecting them. Bush was on this bandwagon, too.

GM Roper and his wing-nut sidekick Woody are not only angry white straw men but entertaining with their paranoia of Obama. If a hurricane hits New Orleans it will be blamed on the Obama presidency.
Obama has not even taken the wheel of the crashing train their beloved republican George Bush has been driving for eight years and already they balme Obama for the crash. lol

If you want to find racists in America today, look no further than the black "culture." That is where it can be found, and there alone.

Ahmed: this spirit was firmly rejected by the majority of Americans is truly remarkable
No, it wasn't. They didn't have a fair chance to hear us. Do you think that the mainlining media covered a tenth of what we knew about Obama? Where's that LA Times video tape?
On the racist vote, it's not just the percentage of the black vote that Obama received but also the turnout of the black vote.
On election day, I was at Petsmart to get some dog food. While roaming the aisles, a black man with a little dog and a black lady were discussing Obama, and there was only one thing on their minds--his race. I surprised them as I walked up, so they toned down their talk. I wanted to be cordial and put them at ease, and I wanted to say something polite, so I said to the man, "It's nice to see a black man without a pit bull." We all laughed and went our ways. Not really.

Oh, and this also proves that ALL affirmative actions programs should be completely and totally dismantled for all time. But I'm not holding my breath for that to happen because as soon as I suggest it, I'll be called "Racist" -- by black people.

You want racism?
Prosecutors said Hart, who is black, yelled " 'White [expletive], [expletive] McCain--you white police can't do nothing anymore.'" With that, she reached through the window of a squad car and slapped a white male officer in the face, according to Assistant State's Atty. Lorraine Scaduto.Kenneth Smith, 24, of the 6700 block of South Ada Street, was arrested after he allegedly fired a handgun outside his home. Smith, who is on parole for a previous weapons conviction, told authorities that "the police only arrested him because a black man won for president," Scaduto said

Ahmed, you do understand that only native born Americans can run for President. You may not care about the Constitution, but I like the system that doesn't let French, Russian, or Kenyan citizens run for our highest office. There's a good reason that Obama didn't make as his theme song a hit by one of his big supporters -- Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA."

Roper, I hope that you've read comment # 9 of mine and take it to heart. As for the issue of loyalty that you brought up, I've always believed in loyalty to principles. I don't think that people like me who refused to be quiet for the last eight years as a president of stagerring incompetance led us into a disastrous war, attacked civil liberties with little regard to due process or constitutional rights and presided over an adminstration which found its voice only throyuhgh creating enemies have anything to apologise for. In a just world your man Bush ansd his crew would have to face some semblace of real justice for his crimes.
As the rest of you and Cao in partcicular Im disappointed but hardly surprised. Of course, it's a momentous moment to have elected a black president, not on the basis of race, as he overcame overwhelming odds and spoke clearly to people disaffected by the political system. Anyone who was not in some way moved the toehr night, especially if they consider themselves "proud americans" is, IMHO, beyond redemption. Have you forgotten that this is a country where the Ku Klux Klan once had millions of members who waged a campaign of deadly terror against black citizens with the support of a prejudiced legal system. How can one forget the photographs of African-Americans during the first three decades of the last century being lynched under the approving gaze of white families enjoying their picnics as they watched ? in Billie Holliday's memorable voice ? "Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze/Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees"?
It was the mass struggles for civil rights in the 1960s that forced desegregation and the black voter registration campaigns, but also led to the assassination of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X (just as he was beginning to insist on the unity of blacks and whites against a system that oppressed both). It would be trite to remark that Obama is not one of their number. He is seen as such by the 96 per cent of Afro-Americans who spilled out of their homes to vote for him. They may yet be disappointed but for the moment they are rejoicing, and who can blame them.
Shame on you. On the more hopeful side if Cao disgusting blog is a sign of what's to come from the rigth, then things look well. Off to the ideologica wilderness, so it seems

Ahmed, you are a fool and an unknowing one at best. "More irrelevant whining from folks who are not decent enough to be gracious in defeat. The country is moving on, perhaps you guys hsould as well"
Oh, like you guys were in 2000 and 2004 and in the 8 years those two elections compromised? Do us all a favor Ahmed, go play at Marc's with your other obamabots... Thinking people don't buy your crap.

GM Ropers idea of thinking people include racist crazies who run blogs during the election obssesing about whether Obama is a muslim and people who suggest that the vote of poor people and blacks are worth less than that of others. Roper is still trying to recover from his crazed frenzy of posts near the end of the election (some of whic I copied onto Marc's blog). Moving on doesnt mean disregarding principles, if anything I regret that Bush and others having being forced to face any semblance of justice for torture and other activities. I read an interesting article today, which looked at where religious vote went in catholic, jewish, protestant and muslim communities. In total thse communities went overwhlmingly for Obama, in paret, surely, as a protest against the narrow identity politics, nativism and chauvinism represented by the Palin and let me say Woody wing of the repubs.
