Marines Ordered to Cut and Run

Yes, the Marines are being ordered to cut and run by the same bunch of wackos who want our troops in Iraq to cut and run.  The only difference is that they want them out of their city.  So, as a follow-up to this recent post, The Left Coast Supports Whose Troops?, come these latest actions by the city of Berkeley, California.

...the Berkeley City Council...voted 8-1 to tell the U.S. Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station "is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders."

In addition, the council voted to explore enforcing its law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation against the Marines because of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

And it officially encouraged the women's peace group Code Pink to impede the work of the Marines in the city by protesting in front of the station.  ...the council voted 8-1 to give Code Pink a designated parking space in front of the recruiting station once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting....

This is one time that I agree with the city of Berkeley, but for a different reason.  The Marines should leave because the city isn't worthy of protection.  But, I'm sure that the city makes liberals proud, because you won't hear any Democratic or liberal leaders condemning these actions.

If the Marines leave, I hope they bring out the last flag.

1 Such small-minded people; were it only these idiots, then it wouldn’t be so bad.  What a marvelous contribution these stalwart citizens are making along the well-traveled path!  At the end of their miserable lives, what will any of them have offered to their nation worthy of note?  Our men and women in uniform will never have that problem.

In 1957, me JUST having acquired my driver's license, a buddy and I went to a movie theater in Berkeley.  The movie we went to see was "The D.I." starring Jack Webb.  Today, I am sure that this would not be possible as Hollywood would never make a movie like that just now...and, the City of Berkeley would not allow them to show it if it were made.

My wife and I now reside in Texas.  She, like I, was born in CA.  She, like I, became disgusted with CA.  The item above, is just the type of reason (among many others) that caused us to leave.

I find Berkeley, San Francisco and many other places less noted nationally in CA, to be despictable.

BTW, when Berkeley ever has troubles, I do hope they do not consider calling on the Federal government for any assistance.  Maybe Code Pink will defend them.
