The Obama Ticker [Regularly Updated]

How do I feel about Barack Obama?  Here's a sample of remarks that I have made about him to liberals and in response to their comments.  They aren't particularly special or funny, but they do present an image of the candidate that the press doesn't feature.  Feel free to add your own thoughts.

= = =

Obama - The only presidential candidate endorsed by Jimmy Carter.

- - -

The best description that I heard today about the press and Obama is that the press acts like a bunch of giggly school girls going gaga over the class president and team quarterback. “Oh, he looked over here! He’s so cute. Go say something to him! Does he like me?”

- - -

Now, for today’s lesson of Obama anti-patriotism.

(On Obama's plan to gut our military)  Russia currently is making plans to deploy long-range bombers in Cuba, and Russia is not some puny country. And, have you noticed, China isn’t small. But even small nations only need one weapon. Hugo Chavez will purchase $5 billion of weapons from Russia over the next ten years. It just takes money, a weapon, and a crazy dictator–and, we learned that sanctions don’t work.

Obama would even gut our defensive missile shield, which is helping to protect Israel, too. If Israel is hit by a nuclear weapon, we’ll be at war with whoever launched it if their missile is not stopped.

Once again, Obama Vows to Weaken National Defense!

Obama quote of the day: Throughout our history, America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor….

Killer’s final words…”Vote for Obama”

In Mississippi, Dale Leo Bishop was executed by lethal injection at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman for his role in the 1998 killing of Marcus James Gentry.

“For those who oppose the death penalty and want to see it end, our best bet is to vote for Barack Obama because his supporters have been working behind the scenes to end this practice,” Bishop said.

Knowing how the Democrats cast ballots, you can bet that dead convicts will be voting for Obama, too.

- - -

I thought about mentioning Castro endorsing Obama, since it would be one more dead person supporting him.

- - -

Why should Obama visit our military bases? He’s too busy running for president of Europe.

++ Visit to US Military Bases Cancelled ++

1:42 p.m.: SPIEGEL ONLINE has learned that Obama has cancelled a planned short visit to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The visits were planned for Friday. “Barack Obama will not be coming to us,” a spokesperson for the US military hospital in Landstuhl announced. “I don’t know why.” Shortly before the same spokeswoman had announced a planned visit by Obama.

Is Obama Speech Site Contaminated by Nazi Past?

“Finally, Barack Obama’s campaign has settled on a site for his Berlin speech. But some German politicians have now criticized his choice as being one full of Nazi-related symbolism.”

Liberals are never happy and never shut up about things that they want “fixed,” and things better be fixed now and the way they want. I have better luck with my wife in discussing what color to paint the house.

Liberals remind me of that spoiled girl in “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory”…“I want it nowww!”

Obama’s economic plan - Make it easy to declare bankruptcy!

- - -

So, Obama and the Democrats accuse the Republicans every election of planning to put in a draft, just to scare young people into voting for the Dems. So, now who is proposing what would become mandatory service? Why Obama himself?

Forget that. I take care of myself and my family, I pay taxes, I don’t sponge off the government, I volunteer for charities that I choose and not those that the government chooses–like the global warming scam, and I don’t believe that “feel good” programs that force service by people who don’t feel so good about those programs or who need to work real jobs is very bright. And, mandatory unpaid service, aka slavery, is popular in universities today just to pass basic required courses. This will be an expansion of that.

I’m not going to put up with the Democrats accusing the Republicans of a military draft for some when the Democrats are moving towards mandatory service for everyone.

Obama issues new call for national service

“I won’t just ask for your vote as a candidate — I will ask for your service and your active citizenship when I am president of the United States,” Obama said. “This will not be a call issued in one speech or one program — this will be a central cause of my presidency,” he said.”

After Woodrow Wilson, we should know better than to elect people who worked in universities and never had to run a private company.

Obama is dangerous to our freedoms. I’ll even vote for McCain to stop him.

- - -

Obama wants to pull out the troops based upon a timetable. McCain wants to win and then pull out the troops. Whose philosophy to you suspect that Maliki finds more acceptable?

- - -

Obama opposed the surge, but, without it, he wouldn’t be able to adopt his current (and certainly not his last) strategy for withdrawal.

- - -

The shorter Obama-maniacs: “It’s okay for Obama to say whatever it takes to win, because (nudge, wink) he’ll do what we want when he’s elected.”

- - -

Obama would gut our military, just as past Democratic presidents. That sets us up with lesser means to protect our interests, puts us at greater security risk, and means that we would need many years to rebuild. I don’t think that our military should have to resort to being unequipped, using outdated weapons, and cannibalizing for spare parts.

I’ll repeat it. Obama is dangerous.

- - -

Regarding my “semi-hysterical notion” about the military cannibalizing parts, consider how many of our planes that we still have to fly, such as the B-52 and many fighters, represent technologies developed in the 1950’s and 60’s! Do you think that we’re making spare parts for those planes still, or do we need to cannibalize for them?

In addition, I have talked with many people from the services who complained about Jimmy Carter and Bill (I loathe the military) Clinton taking money from the military for other projects to such an extent that the military had to ground planes, helicopters, and other equipment for lack of parts.

- - -

“…you’re completely nuts if you think Obama is going to eviscerate the military.”

You mean the “cut-and-run” Obama?

I don’t think it’s nuts. He’s being pushed for that and he has said as much, as in the earlier video.

Anyway, I’d rather be nuts and safe than naive and dead.

Hey, did some of you know that some Obama supporters are even accusing McCain of war crimes? Some of you might even be in that group. Here are samples from this article: Is McCain’s War Record Fair Game?

Critics have accused McCain of war crimes for bombing targets in Hanoi in the 1960s. Sunday, a widely read liberal blog accused McCain of “disloyalty” during his captivity in Vietnam for his coerced participation in propaganda films and interviews after he’d been tortured.

(Democratic) West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller (suggested) that McCain’s days as a fighter pilot were themselves a critique of his character. “What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground?” he asked. “He doesn’t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.”

The newsletter CounterPunch published this April an article by Doug Valentine headed “Meet the Real John McCain: North Vietnam’s Go-To Collaborator.”

But most of the attacks on McCain’s war record are now coming from the left. In a Huffington Post blog, a former editor of Mother Jones magazine, Jeffrey Klein, called-in tones reminiscent of right-wing attacks on Kerry in 2004-on McCain to release elements of his Navy record that the candidate has not made available to the public or the press.

David Fenton, a prominent progressive public relations executive who works for MoveOn and other groups, also inquired about details of McCain’s Navy sorties….

Some anti-war activists link McCain’s current position on Iraq to his time in Vietnam. “I wouldn’t characterize anybody who fought in Vietnam as a war hero,” said Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of the theatrical anti-war group Code Pink. “In 23 bombing sorties, there must have been civilians that were killed and there’s no heroism to that.”

…this line of attack won’t go away, at least not from elements of the energized pro-Obama grassroots, and from parts of the anti-war left.

A search of Obama’s community website, my.BarackObama.com, finds two posts calling McCain a “war criminal.”

Noam Chomsky, the linguist and activist, said in an email that he thought Americans should question the relevance of McCain’s torture in an unjust war to his campaign.

So much for decency from the left. And, so much for “supporting the troops but not the mission.” I knew that line was a lie from Democrats. Maybe they have been cowards to not state the truth about what they really think–that they believe that our soldiers are stupid for joining our military and deserve what they get–just like McCain. Admit it.

- - -

Here’s another Obama fact: Obama’s for Equal Pay, Yet Pays Female Staffers Less Than Males He continues to disappoint.

- - -

Here’s a chance for Obama to support another right of states, but as with gay marriages, he seems to want it both ways and every way.

Barack Obama Supports Marijuana Decriminalization…but not legalization, even though he “inhaled frequently.”

Oh, wait. Maybe this is his position:
When a voter asked Obama if he was for the legalization of medical marijuana, Obama said that he wasn’t in favor of legalization without scientific evidence and tight controls. Citing his mother who died from cancer young, Obama compared marijuana to morphine saying there was little difference between the two.

Nevermind, Barack Obama Wants to Arrest Marijuana Users After All

Well, here’s the proposed California intiative. For it or against it or both?

From Hollywood LAist There is an initiative in the works that could end up on the November ballot that allows for marijuana to be sold to anyone, and anywhere that already sells alcohol. Its being called The Inalienable Rights Enforcement Initiative.

Obama can also like it because it creates new taxes!

Aside from allowing all willing adults to be able to buy weed easily, this initiative will start to generate revenue for California, and stimulate our struggling economy. More weed stores means more jobs for Californians, more taxes to be collected, and more people enjoying better weed.

In California, this could surpass the money generated by Silicon Valley.

...to answer your question about why we focus on Obama instead of Bush: Bush is already in. Obama isn’t.

Our efforts to make people aware of the threat of turning our nation into a socialist, nanny state while Obama is running makes more sense than all the rantings of the left about Bush after he is in office. We are proactive to have some value while they are reactive and worthless. In fact, they’re still fighting the 2000 election.

One thing that really doesn’t get enough attention is the type of Supreme Court justices that will be appointed by Obama or McCain. We have to deal with idiots like ACLU-bred Ginsburg, who likes saving baby rapists, thanks to Clinton. I can’t imagine the horrible justices that Obama would appoint. When he is finished, we wouldn’t recognize the USA any more.

McCain warns of an ‘Obama Court’

Gotta like the description:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has scrubbed all negative ads (about Obama) from her campaign Web site and YouTube page, leaving visitors with only the warm and fuzzy moments from her bid for the presidency.

The whitewashing took place quietly in the past few days as Mr. Obama cut his former rival a check to help relieve her campaign debt and as the Clinton family moved to fully embrace Mr. Obama as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

- - -

Several months ago the Pew Research Center did some polling in Europe. That polling showed that 58 percent of Europeans want the United States to be weakened. Oddly, that 58 percent figure is pretty close to the margin for Obama.

- - -

Oh, make me puke.

Obama: “I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before. Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen — a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world.

- - -

I guess liberals should be extra proud of a Democratic U.S. presidential candidate who is campaigning in Europe, canceled a visit to a military hospital, criticized the U.S. on foreign soil, and proclaimed himself a citizen of the world.  Yeah, just what we need.

- - -

(Liberal Commenter):  One word:  Diebold.
The Democrats, and Obama is still a Democrat, need a 15-20 point lead on the night before the election to sleep soundly in the knowledge of victory.

Already making excuses.  Democrats won't admit that their candidates lose because of their extremely liberal and socialistic views, as they are so sure that those views are best.  Thankfully, so far, the rest of Americans want to keep America free.

He ventured forth to bring light to the world
The anointed one’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers

And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”

In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.

And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world. ….

….And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: “Yes, We Can.”

Can I get an amen?

From Kyra Phillips of CNN, after Obama's Berlin speech:

“It’s interesting, Christianne pointed out, that the Senator did talk about his mother, born in the heartland of America, but ‘my father grew up herding goats in Kenya’, and that’s where you even heard a large part of that crowd giving a Kenyan cry, which made Barack Obama smile, bringing him back to his home country.”

Why doesn't Obama run for President in "his home country" instead of the U.S., unless he wants the entire world?

- - -

Yeah, Randy, Reagan used the term “citizen of the world” decades ago when it didn’t mean the leftist ideals that the term carries today. What you conclude has no more relevance than Reagan saying in 1960 that he went to a gay party.

- - -

Oh, Balter, give me a break! The fact is that Obama didn’t care enough about the wounded soldiers except to use them for a campaign photo-op. He couldn’t go see them as a non-candidate, but he could make a speech in Berlin as one. What a crock.

The Pentagon advised Senator Barack Obama’s staff that he could visit a US military hospital in Germany only in his official capacity as a member of Congress, without the trappings of a political campaign, Pentagon officials said Friday.

Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, cancelled the visit Friday to wounded soldiers at the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany after deciding the stop would be inappropriate as part of a trip financed by his campaign, a spokesman said.

Pentagon officials said the restrictions were in keeping with Defense Department guidelines aimed at avoiding the appearance of military support for any particular candidate.

“Because his visit is official only, Senator Obama may not be accompanied by members of his campaign staff,” a Pentagon memo seen by AFP said. “He may only be accompanied by one member of his Senate staff, and the appropriate number of security personnel.”

“While at LRMC (Landstuhl Regional Medical Center), Senator Obama may not address the media to make a campaign or election-related statement or to respond to a campaign or a campaign related event,” the memo said.

A Defense Department directive issued in June 2006 prohibits the use of military installations for campaign events or speeches. ….
