I have the dubious honor of being on the faculty at a community college.  One of the other instructors has a photo of Che on his door.  BUT WAIT...he also has the flag of the former Soviet Union on the wall in his office.  BUT WAIT...(this is like those commercials for those wonder items "only offered on television".)  Uh....right....he wears, only rarely, a People's Liberation Army (People's Republic of China....which is two lies out of three) cap.  Yep. 

What, one wonders, is a grown man who lectures young (mostly 19-22 years olds) people, doing?  Well, you know.  He, like the majority of folks (especially in the "soft sciences") at institutions of "higher learning" routinuely push Lefty icons.  They lead students down a trail of falsehood and half-truths.  They start with the factual failures and misdeeds of our country - sadly, we must admit that acts, large and small, of commission and ommission were done, and then proceed to march from fact to half truth and then to outright falsehood.  One (many, actually) are left with a portrait of America being a really awful villain and very many other nations, and or leaders thereof, being a cross between Daddy Warbucks and Father Christmas to the downtrodden.  This, of course, isn't true.  However, truth isn't necessarily a product being slid across the knowledge counter at many colleges these days.

Given their (professors and other academic titles) seriousness and passion, one is hard-pressed to believe that they know they're lying.  Possibly they drank at the poisoned wells of Lefty profs in their undergraduate and graduate days.  Note: Attempting to engage them in serious discussion is near fruitless.

I sometimes wonder just why students go to college/universities.  Most go, I believe, as they see it at the stirrup to swing into the saddle of ecomomic betterment.  They largely endure rather than buy into much of what is thrown in their direction.  Still....under the near sacred blessing (?) of academic freedom (read: license), I worry that representative democracy is actively being undermined.

More simply stated:  All those Che t-shirts are not just youthful rebellion.  Some, how many - I've no idea, will embrace this danger and make things worse.  I hope that I am entirely wrong.
