Save the (Insert Cause Here) !!!

This is a total waste of time and taxpayer money.  It's just more global warming bull and pandering.

US lists polar bear as threatened species

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Interior Department has decided to protect the polar bear as a threatened species because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming, officials said Wednesday.  ...The department, in deciding to list the bear as threatened, will cite studies by its own scientists that the decline of Arctic sea ice off Alaska and Canada could result in two-thirds of the polar bears disappearing by mid-century, said federal officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced.

This is more tripe pushed by the same people who wear shirts with the image of Che Guevara, but in this case it happens to be Che GueBEARa

Isn't that just like a liberal?

1 The polar bear could have well been declared endangered.  Having it declared to be only threatened is really a victory for you righties.  Yet, still, you complain...

An "endangered species” is in danger of extinction throughout all or a significant portion of its range.   A "threatened species” is likely to become an endangered species within the foreseeable future.

Endangered Species Act

Under the definition, the polar bear is not endangered...plus, we know that it's not threatened either.

we know that it's not threatened either

How do YOU know that?  I'm curious.

By studying research from objective sources, staying current on the issue, and noting that polar bear populations are rising rather than declining.  Listing of Polar Bear Based on Politics, Not Science

By studying research from objective sources

Here's an excellent objective statement as to why the Polar Bear was declared threatened.

polar bear populations are rising rather than declining

Even though there's a large population of polar bears at the moment, it's certainly possible that it could decline dramatically given a radical change in their environment.

In another thread, I mentioned that every man is entitled to his own opinions but not his own facts.  Senator Inhofe's statements clearly are personal opinions.

(Is this the point where I'm supposed to call you a fascist?)

Duh! That statements true for any living organism and even some inanimate objects. We could make any number of stupid laws and policies based on what is possible given radical change.

Moose, I certainly go by more than just Sen. Inhofe's statements, but those are not his opinons but are based upon facts.

Realize that polar bears and brown bears species, with the polar bears adapted to living in the snow.  They are still growing in numbers.  They have survived thousands and thousands of years through one climate change after another, without our help.  The arctic ice grows and contracts in cycles, and this is not unusual.

Who, in fact, can say that the climate today is best for the polar bears or anyone?  There is plenty of evidence that we would be better off if things warmed up.  We certainly could grow more food.

This polar bear nonsense is just part of the leftist movment to fight evil capitalism and the U.S.  The "environmentalists" don't care about the bears.  They just care about the power that they get when lazy politicians cave in to them.

We could make any number of stupid laws and policies based on what is possible given radical change.

And radical change is predicted by the best computer models we are capable of making.

10 Moose, you mean those computer models that were unable to predict a COOLing?  Those computer models?
