Global Warming - Dealing with Idiots

The handbook covering how to deal with anthropological global warming fanatics is titled much more delicately than the title of the post, but I prefer to be straightforward.  The guide is relatively short and worth reading. 

The Skeptics Handbook was written by Joanne Nova, who has 15 years of experience in explaining science as a professional.  She cuts through the distractions that global warming fans try to use and forces them to deal with the science rather than the politics and emotions.

Science is not a democracy, and natural laws don’t form because a UN committee decreed it.

Rise above the mudslinging in the Global Warming debate. Here are the strategies and tools you need to cut through the red-herrings, and avoid the traps.

There’s a point about cost-benefit here. How many people are we willing to starve in order to protect us from the unproven threat of CO2?

Consensus proves nothing. It only takes one scientist to prove a theory wrong.

Theories fit the facts or they don't. Instead of saying "Which side has more PhD's?” a better question is "Where's the evidence?".

Ask questions

Non believers don’t have to prove anything. Skeptics are not asking the world for money or power. Believers need to explain their case, so let them do the talking. As long as the question you asked doesn’t get resolved, repeat it.

It’s entirely reasonable to ask for evidence. If you are met with dismissive, intimidatory, or bullying behavior, don’t ignore it. Ask them why they’re not willing to explain their case. In scientific discussions, no theory is sacrosant. Taboos belong in religions.

Who would ever think that people supporting man-caused global (mainly liberals) would act ugly, curse you, or call you names?  Why, the author must have anticipated everything!

Snow Blankets London

The first October snow storm since 1922:

Snow fell as the House of Commons debated Global Warming yesterday - the first October fall in the metropolis since 1922. The Mother of Parliaments was discussing the Mother of All Bills for the last time, in a marathon six hour session.

In order to combat a projected two degree centigrade rise in global temperature, the Climate Change Bill pledges the UK to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. The bill was receiving a third reading, which means both the last chance for both democratic scrutiny and consent.

The bill creates an enormous bureaucratic apparatus for monitoring and reporting, which was expanded at the last minute. Amendments by the Government threw emissions from shipping and aviation into the monitoring program, and also included a revision of the Companies Act (c. 46) "requiring the directors’ report of a company to contain such information as may be specified in the regulations about emissions of greenhouse gases from activities for which the company is responsible" by 2012.

Can you say BOONDOGGLE™?

Global Warming - Believe or Accept Torture

When only five percent of blacks believe that global warming is the major issue facing our country, how would you interpret that data and what should be done?  

Should we allocate funds to programs that very much concern them, like the economy and high gas prices, or should a grant be given to pound into their heads that they are being stupid and global warming has to be number one?  If you guessed the latter, then congratulations. 

Oh, and what should be done if a black man rises up during the meeting and objects because the voices of blacks are being ignored?  Why, you shut him up and toss him out on his ear, of course.

In the future, any other non-believers of global warming will be waterboarded.

Eye Test - Help the Polar Bears Find Ice

Want to save endangered polar bears?  Take the picture below and see if you can locate any ice where they can roam.  Once identified, circle the ice, pass the photo to a liberal, and tell them to go hug a bear.

NASA's MODIS images provide near real-time satellite photos.

Global warming consensus in a nutshell, which aptly describes a home for global warming alarmists....

The UN climate change numbers hoax

It’s an assertion repeated by politicians and climate campaigners the world over: “2,500 scientists of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) agree that humans are causing a climate crisis.”

But it’s not true. And, for the first time ever, the public can now see the extent to which they have been misled. As lies go, it’s a whopper. Here’s the real situation.... 

Determining the level of support expressed by reviewers’ comments is subjective but a slightly generous evaluation indicates that just five reviewers endorsed the crucial ninth chapter (“Greenhouse gas forcing has very likely caused most of the observed global warming over the last 50 years”).  Four had vested interests and the other made only a single comment for the entire 11-chapter report. The claim that 2,500 independent scientist reviewers agreed with this, the most important statement of the UN climate reports released this year, or any other statement in the UN climate reports, is nonsense.  ....

Yeah, let's reallocate trillions of dollars for this.  What does your consensus of one think?

Al Gore’s cinematic sermons on inconvenient truths to the contrary notwithstanding, it is becoming clearer by the day that major cracks are appearing in the supposed consensus among scientists that global warming caused by carbon emissions is an urgent problem that government must address with drastic measures. Among the most significant cracks are these:

- New data produced by more than 3,000 sophisticated ocean buoys scattered across the world’s oceans indicate average water temperatures have been decreasing since 2003, not increasing as would be the case in Gore’s globally warming world. NASA’s Josh Willis, who studies the output of the sophisticated buoys that take temperature readings from thousands of feet below the surface, says the significance of the new data is unclear.

- The average land temperature of the globe dropped precipitously last year, according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. The temperature drop — more than enough to “wipe out most of the global warming of the past 100 years,” according to the online technology publication Daily Tech — was also recorded by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

- The severity of this global temperature drop was reflected in the fact the average U.S. temperature in January was lower than the average for the previous century, according to the U.S. Climactic Data Center. Also, the Canadian Ice Service reports the Arctic ice pack is 10 to 20 centimeters thicker in many places this year than it was in 2007.[italics and bolding added as emphasis]

Top 10 Uses For Polar Bear Fat

You've all seen this picture before:

It purports to show two Polar Bears (PBs) stranded on a melting iceberg.  Ahh yes, due to anthropogenic global warming no doubt.  The only problem is is that the picture was a bit of a fraud. 

Well, now the GWFATB (Global Warming Freaks And True Believers) have managed to get a growing population of a mammal (yes, Virginia, Polar Bear populations are increasing) on the "threatened species" list.  Well, I know of a surefire way to increase the PB population:  Captured PB breeding programs.  This will have the added benefit of using the excess PBs for their fat.  So, in the interests of good citizenship, I present the Top 10 Uses For Polar Bear Fat!

Number 10:  cut into bite size cubes, it can be used by old codgers who like to sit around and chew the fat.

Number 9:  Polar Bear fat can replace Crisco in making pie dough.

Number 8:  Rendered Polar Bear fat can replace butter in frying your morning eggs.  This will have the added benefit of taking the pressure off of cows to make milk and have it stolen from their udders.

Number 7:  Rendered dehydrogenated Polar Bear fat can be used instead of cannola oil in your Vinegar & Oil salad dressings.

Number 6:  Polar Bear fat can be used to replace valuable oil as lubricants.

Number 5:  Polar Bear fat can be used to "grease the skids" in countries where "mordida" is common.

Number 4:  Polar Bear fat can be used to lubricate that squeeky door hinge instead of WD-40 thus saving the atmosphere from added flurocarbons.

Number 3:  Polar Bear fat is terrific for greasing pie and cake pans

Number 2:  Polar Bear fat can be used on burns instead of butter (see also number 8 ).

And the Number 1 use for Polar Bear fat is that it can be used as a source of bio-desiel and cars using it can proudly bear the sign "The Polar (Bear) Express!"

Save the (Insert Cause Here) !!!

This is a total waste of time and taxpayer money.  It's just more global warming bull and pandering. 

US lists polar bear as threatened species

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Interior Department has decided to protect the polar bear as a threatened species because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming, officials said Wednesday.  ...The department, in deciding to list the bear as threatened, will cite studies by its own scientists that the decline of Arctic sea ice off Alaska and Canada could result in two-thirds of the polar bears disappearing by mid-century, said federal officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced.

This is more tripe pushed by the same people who wear shirts with the image of Che Guevara, but in this case it happens to be Che GueBEARa. 

Isn't that just like a liberal?

Sorry To Disapoint The True Believers...

...but there may be an ice age comin'. 

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.

Global Warming Tax Gets Cold Shoulder

To a Democratic proposal to raise gasoline taxes by 50¢ a gallon to save the Earth, Americans respond.

Americans Cool to Global Warming Action, New Poll Finds

Forty-eight percent of Americans are unwilling to spend even a penny more in gasoline taxes to help reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new nationwide survey released today by the National Center for Public Policy Research.  Opposition grew once respondents were informed that eliminating passenger cars in the United States altogether would only reduce world emissions by a fraction.

What a difference it makes once those being polled on global warming are honestly informed.
