As Obama forms his "ruling" team and prepares to take office, the people who supported Obama want to help him set priorities. From one site accepting votes on this comes the below ranking, as of this writing.
Do you remember the big deal about having universal health care? Pretty important, huh? Well, look at what they ranked in importance right above that.
In President Obama’s first 100 days, he needs to:
Invest in clean energy and create 5 million new green jobs
Responsible, Phased Withdrawal of Troops in Iraq (16 months)
Kill the PATRIOT Act
Prosecute criminals in Bush administration
Enact quality, affordable health care for all
Shut down Guantanamo
Restore, Uphold, and Defend the Constitution
Raise Minimum Wage to a Living Wage
End corporate welfare
Stop domestic surveillance
It's amazing how much energy leftists spend in hating Bush, even to the point of ranking his prosecution above life itself.
If you have the stomach for it, you can read the rest of their priorities at the site, too. Pick out your favorite. Mine is "Eliminate the IRS!" I can always find other work. At least it would keep Obama from raising taxes.
What would you want Obama to do--besides quit?
[Update] - Yep. The Democrats got their marching orders from the left and are moving ahead on a high priority issue. They're going to live in a hate-filled past forever, which is not change but what we've come to expect from them.

You got to give it to them libtards, they are like the energizer bunny when it comes to spewing hate and blame. I don't exactly like Bush myself, but criminal prosecution on the brain in regard to an elected president is really over the top. The Democrats scared kids in past elections by claiming that Republicans would draft them into serving our nation. How times have changed. Now, the Democrats want to draft kids into "civil defense service" or "community service" (a racist code word, btw) -- and compensation may not be part of the formula. We're already seeing forced volunteerism in colleges under the name of "service learning."
How would you or your kids like to be forced into an involutary national or community service plan--one set up by Obama? Maybe you would even get to "donate" your time to ACORN! It's wrong, in my eyes, even if there is compensaton. Well, Obama is pushing it, although specifics are disappearing from his website as we read. Here's some insight from an interview with Obama chief of staff Emanuel.
SMITH: I meant to ask you about the universal service piece of the plan. Can you tell me about it how is this going to work? Are people going to live in barracks?
EMANUEL: Universal Civil Defense Training…I think he had it at 18, but we thiinking somewhere between the ages of 18 and 25, you will do three months of training. You can do it in your(inaudible). Some point in college you can do just that. There can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint similar experience.
I mentioned this a few days ago on a blog where I quit commenting a couple of years ago and pretend to not comment there now, because G.M. is supposed to shoot me if I do. Here's the exchange, as it might have happened, had I really done it.

Just like the Democrats did in the 2004 Washington state governor's race, in 2008 the Democrats in Minnesota keep coming up with overlooked votes to help Al Franken who, only for the time being, is behind Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in the vote count for U.S. Senator.
Minnesota is becoming to 2008 politics what Florida was in 2000 or Washington State in 2004 -- a real mess. The outcome will determine whether Democrats get 58 members of the U.S. Senate, giving them an effective filibuster-proof vote on many issues.
When voters woke up on Wednesday morning after the election, Senator Norm Coleman led Al Franken by what seemed like a relatively comfortable 725 votes. By Wednesday night, that lead had shrunk to 477. By Thursday night, it was down to 336. By Friday, it was 239. Late Sunday night, the difference had gone down to just 221 -- a total change over 4 days of 504 votes.
Virtually all of Franken’s new votes came from just three out of 4130 precincts, and almost half the gain (246 votes) occurred in one precinct -- a heavily Democratic precinct....
The fix is in--not counting what ACORN has already done. Will the Republicans have the will to fight this if Franken steals the election? I doubt it.
House...
...Democrats fail to pass bailoutwhen they have a majority. They only wanted Republican Cover, they don't want to be in charge. Pelosi blew it big time. And don't let Democrats tell you that Republicans failed. They didn't need one single Republican vote to pass this abomination.
I'm amazed that I'm hearing that this will help Obama and hurt McCain. Obama was running around the country, dividing the political parties, and ignoring his duty as a Senator, in favor of making speeches for a new job. If you want positive change and good leadership, don't count on getting it from the "Axis of Weasels"--Pelosi, Reid, and Obama.

Nancy Pelosi's speech, while it was extremely inappropriate, is NOT what caused anyone to vote against this bill. The vote primarily broke down the way it did because of voter backlash. Most who voted against it are facing re-election in November and none of them, neither Democrat nor Republican had the courage to step up and do something politically inconvenient for themselves for the greater good.
Also, that "controlling the House" does not give the majority party the power to do ANYTHING it wants. There will *never* be a 100% yes block vote on anything this controversial. The only way something was going to happen was if Republicans stepped up to the plate along with the Democrats. They didn't. They SHARE the blame on this, no two ways about it.
And I know you KNOW this GM. You're not stupid. Maybe you're just having difficulty accepting reality for what it is.
Posted by: e. nonee moose at Tuesday, September 30 2008 07:01 AM (dlFaD)
Moose, I'm not disagreeing on both parties having some blame, but if Nancy Pelosi got up, didn't blast republicans and said "Hey folks, t his is important, this is an emergency and I back the President.." don't y ou think it would have passed? 12 votes... only 12---
Tom Coburn said it best:
“As much as members of Congress want to find scapegoats, the root of this problem is political greed in Congress. Members of Congress from both parties wanted short-term political credit for promoting home ownership even though they were putting our entire economy at risk by encouraging people to buy homes they couldn’t afford. Then, instead of conducting thorough oversight and correcting obvious problems with unstable entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, members of Congress chose to ignore the problem and distract themselves with unprecedented amounts of pork-barrel spending.”
Oh, the top four presidential candidates that got the most money from fannymae/freddymac? In order: 1. Dodd; 2. Obama; 3. Kerry and 4. Clinton! What does that say?

To be honest I don't know if the bill failing was a bad thing or a good thing. Deemed by the initial reaction from Wall Street, it must be bad but now the market is trying to creep back up again like it always does. I think at the very least we're looking at some 70's style inflation and the best we can do at this point is try to mitigate that in some way. Maybe the bailout bill would have done that but maybe not. These are very uncertain times.
As to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae giving contributions to Democrats, I can compare this to oil companies backing Republican candidates. Pot meet kettle.

Do you remember when the Democrats accused Ronald Reagan of an October Surprise that never existed but led to investigations by the Democrats? House Speaker Thomas Foley (D) and Senate Democratic leader George Mitchell (D) said, "We have no conclusive evidence of wrongdoing, but the seriousness of these allegations, and the weight of circumstantial information, compel an effort to establish the facts." Wasn't that brilliant? There is no evidence, so it must be worse than we thought.
Also, do you remember Hillary Clinton's campaign warning Democrats back in May that they may face an October Surprise with Sen. Obama? “We don’t know enough about Senator Obama yet. We don’t need an October Surprise. And (the chance of) an October Surprise with Hillary is remote.” And, Democrats worried so much about Gov. Palin's vetting.
This has led some to speculate that Obama would be the victim of an October Surprise about illegal activities, leading him to fall on his sword by dropping out and allowing Hillary Clinton to graciously replace him as the Democratic Presidential nominee in order to save the party. That would take more scandal, backroom deals, and humility than normal, so, unless Obama is found dead with a gun in his hand at Ft. Marcy Park, I think that the next scenario is more likely.
Obama running mate Sen. Biden, after using up his gaff allotment, may come down with a sudden "illness" forcing him to withdraw and allowing Hillary Clinton to join Obama as his female sidekick and a "new and improved running mate." Would she do it?
Such antics by the Democrats are not new, as you may remember in 2002 when New Jersey Democrats replaced trailing and corruption ridden Robert Torricelli with Frank Lautenberg only fifteen days before the Senate election, and got away with it despite a fifty-one day legal requirement. In fact, Obama had opposition disqualified when he ran for state and federal offices, so he could pull something similar on Biden, too. One other option is that Sen. Biden would be found at Ft. Marcy Park.
So, what other October Surprise could there be? Well, it's like the one for which the Democrats falsely accused Reagan. Obama is accusedof encouraging the Iraqi government to delay the pull down of American troops there, so as to allow him to use Iraq for political purposes.
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
So, there we have several scenarios of an October Surprise. One, that of the Republicans, has been proven false. Another, that of the New Jersey Democrats, was true. The other three by the Democrats are possibilities, so don't be October Surprised if the Democratic ticket changes and Obama is found to have attempted to interfere with a more rapid pullout of our troops from Iraq.
Thus, the score on October Surprises is Republicans -0- and Democrats -1-, but the Democrats are sitting with the ball inside the ten yard line primed to score again.
Oh, just one suggestion, Sen. Obama. If Hillary Clinton does become your running mate, for your own good, don't visit Ft. Marcy Park.
Ohh I am sure that they will have some sort of shennanigans up their sleeves come October. It slays me that they think that we are that stupid. Then again it is American politics.

Well, for one surprise, the Democrats are running the investigation into Gov. What amazing timing!

When I listened to the Democrats attacking businesses for not paying taxes, I knew they were stupid or lying about it. My corporate clients don't pay taxes because almost all are Subchapter-S corporations, which means that the corporate income flows to their personal returns and is taxed there. No taxes are avoided. They are simply taxed on another form.
But, the Democrats would have you believe that the taxpayers are lying on their taxes. If anyone is lying, it's Nancy Pelosi and her crowd, unchallenged by their adoring media.
Last week, the Government Accountability Office released a report that revealed why Washington is so broken: Democratic politicians too often act like U.S. businesses are the enemy.
...``When two-thirds of corporations pay no taxes,'' Pelosi said, ``American workers are forced to pay too much in taxes even as they cope with rising prices and falling wages.''
The study seemed to play right into the Democratic us- against-them playbook. Evil corporations rake in the cash and then play dirty tricks to avoid taxes. That leaves the little guy with the bill for our government.
The problem is, the study showed no such thing. ....
To the Democrats, no one (well, at least "the rich"--which means you and me) pays enough in taxes. Just put the Democrats in total control and that will be changed, and that's one type of change that our economy and families can't take.
1
Well that certainly takes the rag off the bush. Your attempt to kill the fact that most C Corporations are paying zero tax on unseemly profits by referring to S corporations is typical. One would think from your protests that you are/were the CEO of a C Corp. What is wrong with C Corporations paying some tax? You pay them (I hope) I pay them, even GM pays. I certainly feel that Gen. Mtrs should help out. Fortunately, try as they might most energy corporations will caugh up a bit of their profit this year. Woody, just what is your recommendation about the national debt? It is there, you know, and it is sucking Billions of Dollars from our economy as interest each year. It appears that you are a deficit spending supporter.
Posted by: James S. Melbert at Wednesday, August 20 2008 06:32 PM (AeSvd)
James, I gave an example--not a complete list. Yes, I have some C-corps whose tax returns that I prepare. In most cases, we bonus the corporate profit to the officer/shareholder to avoid a higher corporate tax. Some corporations don't make profits, so they don't pay, either.
The point, however, was that the Democrats were intentionally misleading the public with claims that corporations don't pay taxes and must be cheating, when full disclosure provides a different story.
I also hear about how much money that EXXON makes, so they should pay more taxes. However, their profit margin is less than many other companies, like Microsoft, but their profit dollars look high simply because of the huge size of the company. Taxing them more or taking away drilling incentives is not going to help us with our energy needs.
Keep in mind, however, that corporations just pass their taxes onto consumers in the form of higher prices, so you end up covering them yourself.
The problem with deficits isn't that we're not taxed enough. The problem is that we spend too much. I'd start cutting misnamed entitlements, which were the programs that came after our essential programs like national defense and interstate commerce.

Democrats are in a tizzy over John Edwards' affair, even more than Republicans, because John Edwards almost hurt their party and their causes--not the country. Character was an issue when Bill Clinton was running and serving in office--but, not to liberals. They long for a return to the Clinton years. But, what did that get us and why should we want to return to that? Did they not learn anything?
In response to a liberal, one of the few rational ones that I know, this is how I answered his pining for the Clinton years in light of the Edwards scandal.
When Clinton left office, the dotcom bubble had burst, the country was in a real rather than a pretend media recession, China had purchased our missile guidance secrets with donations to Clinton, FBI files were used to destroy his detractors, terrible felons were pardoned at the last minute for money and favors, and the stage for 9-11 was set by his policy of "can I wait another day without dealing with a crucial issue."
As part of those issues and a problem that became his legacy, Bill Clinton was a liar with low character. He hurt more than Democrats. He hurt our entire nation with his misconduct and lies.
When Clinton was running for office and was in office, it was often repeated by him, the Democrats, and the press that "character didn't matter." The American public was misled. Character does matter, and to say otherwise is a horrible lesson for our children.
Eleven-year-old Keith Lynch of the Bronx said, "He's lying to people who love him and trust him. That's no President to me. He should be ashamed of himself for teaching kids bad things." Tyrone Strother, 15, also of the Bronx, said, "He went to lie school, not law school." Cory Hinojosa, a Houston seven-year-- old, knows that lying is wrong. When he lies, he says, he gets a "time-out." Says Cory, "They should give a punishment like not to be President the rest of the year."
The point here is that children inhabit a moral universe. There is a law, St. Paul says, "written on the hearts of men" that gives us a sense of right and wrong. These kids know right from wrong. Dare we reeducate them to believe that there is no truth, that there are no consequences for bad behavior?
Have you not learned that lesson yourself and want to return to those Clinton years? Some of you never learn, I guess, including John Edwards on the character issue.
Yet, the biggest complaint from the left isn't what John Edwards might have done to our country but what he might have done to the Democratic Party. That's selfish and pathetic.
1
I guess rumors of his gayness have been overestimated.

In the tirade I just read, where do you place George W. Bush? It is important. because of the other misinformation you have spewed out. One Example: "When Clinton left office, the dotcom bubble had burst, the country was in a real rather than a pretend media recession," Not true. The dot-com bubble burst after Georgie was elected.( I have to admit that he had little to do with it) Then he decided that all that accumulated tax income should not be used to pay our debts, but instead, used to promote the Republican ethos of always using the other persons money. Speaking of bubbles, what is your comment on the "Housing Bubble"? Or would you rather just skip that?

We here at the Messiah Bus Company of Chicago understand how difficult it has been for you in recent days. First, there was the controversy over the rather absurd comments from the right wing zealots regarding Chicago's own Reverend Wright. Trinity United Church of Christ was built by this fine man, but since you were running for president, we understood the need to separate yourself from him.
Your wife, Michele Obama's comments about finally being proud didn't help either. Then comes our favorite Catholic Priest Rev. Michael and the right wingers went nuts over what we considered a very sensible sermon. Again, we understand that as a candidate for the Presidency of these United States you had to distance yourself from him as well. That also meant that there was a greater chance of you having to disassociate yourself from TUCC and we understand that.
Then, of course there is the issue of your grandmother, your crazy uncle in the attic and now comes that scoundrel Jim Lynch writing in "bRight & Early" a really nasty post with a photoshopped picture of a bus with all your friends and relations "under the bus" so to speak. To show you what we mean, we show this disgusting picture.
Well, of course the picture shows Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn as the next folk you may have to distance yourself from and we thing that that is a despicable thing to say about the next Secretary of State and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development respectively. In addition, we recognize that you may have many, many more so called skeletons hidden away that also may need to go "under the bus"
Wanting to make our contribution to your effort, because we believe in you, and because we were paid big bucks encouraged a lot to help out, we have designed a new bus for you. I'm sure you have heard of extra long "stretch" limousines, well this is a stretch Bus, but in a new and exemplary direction. Hope this helps!

You're so kind, GM. I have to wonder, however, if a steamroller might be more effective. Or perhaps something to indicate those very few acquaintances of Mr. B.O. who he has NOT thrown under the bus...

Oh, now I get it. I couldn't figure out what people meant by saying he needed a bigger bus. In light of this revelation, may I also indicate that the landing at the bottom of the stairs has piled up too?

3Fact: as of this morning, Obama needed 41.5 deligates to clinch
Fact: Total up for grabs tonight - 31 - Obama may win, but he can’t “clinch” the nomination tonight.
Fact: you're one of the stupidest, most ignorant men in America. And that's on top of being a truly vile, racist, warmonger.

I'm leaving the comment above as an example of a Leftist who can't think straight. Vile? because I question if Obama has actually "clinched" the nomination? (by the way, his "fact" is a quote from a comment I made at Marc Cooper's blog.) Racist? I don't like Obama because he is a SOCIALIST... How is that racism? Warmonger? Because I think that we need to take warmaking directly to the thugs that attacked our country on so many occasions - the islamofascists? Note also that the idiot's "nom de comment" is is a fictitious name, like his email address trewth_seeker@yahoo.comlikely is. Oh well, it just goes to show that some folks can't reason... that's why they are called Democrats!

Unfortunately, GM, it's likely that this is the knowledge and abilities of the typical Obama supporter. Never mind the content of his speech, notice that he either does not know, or does not care about the simple meanings of words.
How can one attempt to claim that any sentence using the word "stupidest" can even BE a fact? And you can see his definition of the word "racist" -- it's anyone who disagrees with Obama.
Get ready, because you're going to see about five more months of this. Words have whatever meaning the communists (Read: Democrat Party & Obama Supporters) want them to at that moment, and no more. Actual definitions of words do not apply. Everything will be about what they "hope" it will be about.

Who's head?!? Dear, dear - is there something else lurking to pitch under the bus? How many lanes are we going to have to give up for his "green?" - - oooops - - That's that "other" guy - - "dang" bus trip everyone seems to be jumping on!

Forget Obama, I want to know where all these deli gates are and why does Obama need so many deli gates? Isn't one gate enough to get into the deli? And why do only deli's have gates? Why not other kinds of restaurants? Is it a commentary on the holocaust? A religious thing? A safety measure? Why not gates on all restaurants? Maybe small enough so that if you can't fit through them you can't eat there? How about THAT huh? But I really want to know why obama needs so many deli gates? Is he collecting them? Do we really want someone who collects something as useless as a deli ga.....what?
As for the next 5 months of constant Obama glorification? You bet. The Messiah himself will be placed up onto some pedestal he really doesn't have the experience, expertise, guts and in the end, nerve, to be on. This election will all about the first BLACK man to be this, to be that, ect ect It will not be about real issues and policy and platform. People will not really know what they are voting for with Obama. Cause even he doesn't know what he really means, or stands for.

He stands for communism, socialism, black liberation theology, and hatred of white males. What else do you want to know about him?
