Barrack Obama and the Rape of Reason

I don't mind partisan politics, I engage in it as do most of my friends and my friendly enemies.  In fact, part of the fun of elections is to see if you can't nail your opponent with a justifiably appropriate "gotcha."  This election season however is different.

This year the blind subservience of the main stream media to the Obama faction of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party as a whole is so obvious, that even MSM journalists are noticing.  Hence the SNL skit of their fawning over Barrack Obama.  Then too, the hammering of Sarah Palin by the netroots with the nastiest rumor mongering since "Ma, Ma, where's my Pa" (us old timers remember that from history class, you young squirts can look it up) left a foul taste in a lot of peoples minds and chased not a few Democrat leaning folk over to the McCain*Palin side.  And Obama? Obama said leave the family out of this but didn't practice what he preached, at least not directly.  For Obama it was "Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war" except in this case, the dogs of war are the Obama surrogates as found in the "diaries" on his official website.  Having female surrogates do the hammering on Governor Palin is just as crooked and dishonest.  Ask Senator Clinton, she's seen first hand how the Obama camp operates.

But the current economic melt down is really just too damn much.  Mr. Obama, don't you think that you could have your people do a little research before you are so quick to blame?  I mean after all, your blaming Bush and McCain for the Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae meltdowns really is the rape of all reason.

Bush pushed for oversight of these two "federal agencies" in 2003 and John McCain pushed to regulate them in 2005.  Both efforts were torpedoed by the Democrats.  Too, in the last twenty years or so, McCain has been given some $20,000 dollars by the folk at FM and FM while you, being there only 4 years have amassed the largest hunk of contributions other than Chris Dodd who is currently under a huge ethics cloud.  Senator Obama, the last I looked, neither you nor Senator Dodd were Republicans.

In addition, you are so busy castigating your political rivals McCain and the Republicans, you are totally ignoring the very real corruption on your side of the aisle and in the Democratic congress vis-a-vis Congressman Charlie Rangel.  At least Mr. McCain is saying that he will get rid of crooked Republicans and Ms. Pelosi says there is no reason for Charlie to step down.

Do you still take yourself seriously? I mean all this new found love and affection for Hillary from these quarters is more than a bit odd. You and your cohorts have spent countless hours and writtens thousands of words saying the natiest of things about her (many of them true, much hyperbole and venom, and often laced with sexism) and now you've got nothing but love. It's pathetic and infantile. The other day you complained that Obama called Hillary "likeable enoough" which wouldn't even register as even a remote insult when compared to some of the truly viled things you, Woody and company said about her in the past.

3 Also, I recall you saying that Mccain is one of, in fact possibly, the worst presidential candidate the repubs have nominated. Worst then Bush, in your opinion, who's poll numbers are so low that even his own party won't mention his name. Who's administration is reponsible for the erosion  of civil libetrties to such an extent that Bob Barr is now running against your party. If you actuallly believe that he is a worst fate then Bush, how on Earth can you vore for him in good conscsience vote for him

4 ps aren't you guys always castigating multicutural pc'ers, feminist, "muzies" (your disgusting term not mine) and others for always being offennded and wallowing in self pity and victimhood. You now quit Coopers because people were being mean to you or using harsh language? Reminds me of much of the American right, do as I say not as I do!

5 I mean after all, your blaming Bush and McCain for the Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae meltdowns really is the rape of all reason.

I find sexual assault as a metaphor to be in poor taste, regardless of whether your point is valid or not.

Bush pushed for oversight of these two "federal agencies" in 2003 and John McCain pushed to regulate them in 2005.  Both efforts were torpedoed by the Democrats.

Links and details, please.

The difference between the Libs' partisan political shots and ours is this: Our commentary makes sense and theirs is just plain stupid. The gender bigotry and ageism in their campaigning is beyond the pale.

Posted by: Pasadena Closet Conservative at Thursday, September 18 2008 11:23 PM (Q3iRb)

7 I get the sense that PCC's stand against gender bigotry is not only new, but it's motivated by than a tad of opportunism. As my friend, Celeste Fremon, said when feminist defend women and work for women's rights then they are called feminazis by the Limbaugh's of the world. But when they judge women by the "content of their character" not the amount of X chromosones in their DNA (and thus call out Pailin to be horribly uninformed and unqualified) then they are deemed to be self hating and unhinged. See, there's no winning with  you guys, because on alot of issues you disregard principles with reckless abandon

8 Ahmed, you are so full of it.  If this were about "content of her character" than it would be politics.  Were you aware that you were so seriously deluded?

9 @ moose : Invest in a dictionary, or learn to use the reference feature in Word. Rape means more than sexual assault.

10 Speaking of deluded you still have not answered the query of Mccain versus Bush, given the fact that you think Mccain is the worst Republican nominee for president ever, nor have you compared and contrasted Obama's mild rebuke of Clinton (likeable enough) compared to your and Woody's bobastic attacks against her in the past. Come on man, I'd love to hear what you've got to say

Ahmed, you are such a troll, but I'll take a little time to answer you... one, I'd like you to find where I used the term "Muzzies"  I don't think I ever have.   two, the attacks on Clinton were most often and usually on her politics, her policies and her associations, NOT because she was a woman, mother, wife or had a Down's Syndrome Child let alone about her having a 17 year old daughter that was pregnant.  For example here, here, here and here!

As for why I'm now supporting the Republican Ticket...  well, you and your good friend reg will just have to wonder... that is my business.  I will tell you that A young inexperienced squirt picking an old plagerizer doesn't even come close to a old fart who is far from conservative who picks a fresh face with experience and the intellect to grow.  Just no comparison at all.  Now, go pay some extra incometax so you can be patriotic.

Lol paying taxes is patriotic. That was the funniest thing I came across this week from Mr. Obama. Paying taxes is about me keeping my butt out of jail, and having it taken from check every month. It has nothing to do with patriotism. The idea that you can  tax the rich and corporations without raising the out of pocket expense of those who are not in that tax bracket is ridiculous.

Oh, I dunno, Roper, it seems to that much of the animus aimed at Hillary during the primaries, particularly, but not exclusively from the right was framed in highly gendered terms. You're seriously not going to tell me with a straight face that you don't rememebr the nutcraker jokes nor the lady macbeth references. I have no doubt that the Woody's of the world and those who travel in this blog world were in for the whole disgraceful mysogynist ride. As for Palin, alot of the liberal left, I'm thinking of Cooper, Celeste and others have critcised Palin for purely political and fari reasons; her lack of experience, insularity (she only received a passport in her forties) and her inability to grapple with complicated issues. On the other hand my man Tim Wise argues that whiteness is playing a large role in the way this campaign is framed and how |Americans see it

"White privilege is when you can call yourself a "fuckin’ redneck," like Bristol Palin’s boyfriend does, and talk about how if anyone messes with you, you'll "kick their fuckin' ass," and talk about how you like to "shoot shit" for fun, and still be viewed as a responsible, all-American boy (and a great son-in-law to be) rather than a thug.

White privilege is when you can attend four different colleges in six years like Sarah Palin did (one of which you basically failed out of, then returned to after making up some coursework at a community college), and no one questions your intelligence or commitment to achievement, whereas a person of color who did this would be viewed as unfit for college, and probably someone who only got in in the first place because of affirmative action.

White privilege is when you can claim that being mayor of a town smaller than most medium-sized colleges, and then Governor of a state with about the same number of people as the lower fifth of the island of Manhattan, makes you ready to potentially be president, and people don’t all piss on themselves with laughter, while being a black U.S. Senator, two-term state Senator, and constitutional law scholar, means you’re "untested."

14 On the issue of patriotism, I generally believe that Americans would be better off going away from the bipartisan, bombastic rhetoric around nation and flag. In American, IMHO, there is a desperate need for more global voices, less insularity and a greater understanding of the ties that bind and connect us all on a much greater scale than narrow nationalism allows. Unfortunately, our political system doesn't tend to foster this sort of dialogue and the desm and repubs are not disimilar on this front. Lastly, I know that it's probably embarrasing at this late stage but I'm still waiting for the Bush versus Mccain response, given that you feel Mccain is the worst nominee the repubs have ever advanced!

Posted by: Ahmed at Sunday, September 21 2008 03:24 PM (itt6K)

Ahmed... not every silly question from a progressive gets answered.  Especially when you post even more silly stuff like global voices.  As long as there are people like Putin and others out there, America mans the bulworks of real freedom.

Talk to the violent islamofascists (or what ever term you prefer) about standing down... show me that talking to them works, then we can have a conversation on how everyone can help everyone else.

Am I being chauvinist?  You bet, and no apologies offered.

You do realise that many people around the world look at Bush, at imagine the exact same thing as you, only they use W as a reason to dismiss the humanity of Americans. As for the Anglosphere blog thing, man that's particularly creepym it seems to hark back to the glories of colonail  times. Besides, isn't Canada with their socilaised medice and sefl percived role as a peace keeper, a kind of enemy of the American right. Hmm, I'm not a dem but the more I hear from the Ropers and Woodys of the world, the more I think that the wretched wordlview you guys represent needs to be defeated in november

Ahmed, you do make me chuckle...  Your constant rant of those evil republicans and especially Me and Woody shows how necessary it is for the goodly and rightous Democrats to win so that America will be respected again is truly amusing.

Truth is, the majority of PEOPLE of most nations would rather immegrate to the US than anywhere else if they are of a mind to immigrate.  Truth is that with our form of government including the ability to kick out the current scalliwags in favor of a new set of scalliwags has done more to advance humanity than any other form of government.  Face it brother, you are on the wrong side of history.

Posted by: GM Roper at Monday, September 22 2008 03:02 PM (1fjXG)

18 You're an odd guy, Roper. Of course, I respect representative government, in fact my hope is that we can extend the democratic pulses that exist, here, in my home, America, and genuinely nbuild a far, deeper democracy, in a social and economic sense as well. I'm fascinated by this country, which I live in and love. As a very young person I've always been drawn to it's writers and aware that the calamities of American history, the tension, the newness have produced soem of my favorite literary voices, people like Melville, Baldwin, Thoreau and others. I don't like boasted and ignorant displays of nationalism in the US any more than I'd like it anywhere else in the world, call it a philisophical position if you wish. That we have too much of it here, and that specifically after 9/11 Bush and others have used this national mobilisation for devious means, this is my opinion. I thnk that you're more interested in arguing against shadows of your own fiction than engaging in an honest debate.

While I'm getting all autobiographical, I should say that many years ago I spent time working in communities, relating to people, providing servces, organizing meeting, helping empower grassroots organizations and serving as a vessel to mobilize communitty needs. It was demading as we were overworked and underpaid, but I met and bonded with some of the best people that I've ever met. All of this was done while being a, gasp!, communitty organiser.

"While I'm getting all autobiographical, I should say that many years ago I spent time working in communities, relating to people, providing servces, organizing meeting, helping empower grassroots organizations..."

We have that in common then.  During the civil rights struggle we didn't get paid, but we WERE overworked

Posted by: GM Roper at Tuesday, September 23 2008 07:36 AM (1fjXG)

21 I commend you for participating in the Civil Rights struggle and am left to wonder why on Earth you've since committed yourself to the party of the southern strategy;  a party which for the last few decades has been committed to dismantling the social and political gains made by the movement you worked for. Life is odd, I guess. Btw, since you stated quite clearly that Mccain is the worst nominee chosen by the Repubs, perhaps ever, I'll assume you think he is, in fact, worse than Bush. With W's popularity somewhere in the high teens, that doesn't seem to bode well for a future Mccain administration. As Dennis Kucinich wanted to say at the DNC, but was prevented from doing so by the party hacks, the repubs want four more years but in a just world Rumsfeld, Bush and company would get ten to twenty!

Instead of bashing McCain and Bush, you need to look at what the Senate is doing.  They are trying to do away with the 22nd amendment so OBAMA can be President for life.  This is the socialist way, everyone needs to bombard their senators and rep with a do not do this attitude or you will be replaced if we still have any freedoms left.  OBAMA is here to destroy American as we know if, this is a man not born a US Citizen, a Muslim, no experience and how did he become so wealthy when he has never worked in his life.  Who is supporting him, who is behind him that is a question I would like answered.  This man is incapable of running the USA and so he is trying to destroy it.   Within 4 years if he is not stopped we will have no freedom of the press, no freedom to work where we want to and no freedom to health care.  The government will control everything here and we will not be able to do anything about it.   Hilter took over his country with the same agenda and others have as well, you better look and watch because it is coming.  I'm older and have lived through the best years of American, but I have a child and grandchild that will have to be persecuted by this government and that is what scares me.

You better be on the watch and read, do not listen to what every Tom, Dick and Harry says, read for yourself.
